Niklaus POV:

Hope and Henrik had made us rings that functioned as a disguise, allowing us to walk around without being recognized. It seems that Marcel had doubled his day walkers and his night walkers. Apparently Finn and Sage had upset him earlier. Not enough to drink vervain but enough to increase his numbers.

Caroline and I had been walking near the Compound, getting information and taking in the sights. I saw Marcel in the streets, attempting to seduce a young brunette. He looked my way, held eye contact and then made his way to us. "Stay behind me, he will try something with you first." I whispered, not loud enough for Marcel to hear over the city street noise.

"Welcome to New Orleans, I see that I caught your eye over there. Tell me why." Marcel tried to compel me, he doesn't know how silly he looks. I start laughing, Caroline laughs with me, joining in on our shared mockery of Marcel. "What's so funny, friend?" Marcel asked stepping closer, Caroline stopped laughing.

I took her hand, drawing a line up her palm, indicating for her to jump to the rooftop and the sprint as fast as she could. "This is between you and me Marcel. Let the lovely lady go." I said and Caroline sprinted away. Two day walkers try to jump and follow but I had grabbed them by their ankles, whipping them back at the ground. A sickening crack could be heard when their skulls hit the pavement.

"You don't touch my vampires. That's my number one rule!" Marcel said walking my way again. He was a step away when I picked him up by his shirt, "You may not recognize the face or the voice, but you hear me well Marcellus. When the time comes you will stand down, and give the title to the true King of the City. You will not convince your vampires to take vervain, nor will you be taking vervain." I compelled him, I put him on his feet letting him think that I'd let him go.

As he relaxed I quickly grabbed him under one arm and over his other shoulder; then turned and threw him over my hip slamming him into the ground. He landed on his neck, making a dent in the street with how hard I threw him. Hopefully he will learn his lessons about intimidation. I had found Caroline back at home, safe and sound.

Hope POV:

I had been working with the hybrids, integrating them between the mansions and tenements I built in the Bayou. There had been witches coming to the city, taking up the mantle on feeding the ancestors magic. If I can't make friends with them then I'll just have to slaughter them. I was always prophesied to be the death of the witches.

"You know Dad, I don't know why you kept your mother in a coffin, alive but asleep. You should have cut off her head, and never consecrate her bones." I said, flipping through a book. "I'm seeing Elijah but hearing me? Is anyone else experiencing this?" Dad mocked. "Ha ha. I'm serious, keeping her alive and in a coffin is a risk. Kill her before someone wakes her up." I responded, putting the book down.

Freya and Henrik have been working on mending Mikael's mind, restoring memories. "It will be a long process, but I want to be a better man and father to all of you. The only way I can describe how it felt was as if I could think but the words coming out of my mouth and my actions weren't my own. I'm so terribly sorry for all the misery you all suffered at my hands." Mikael told them, looking at his hands as if they were coated in blood.

Freya took his hands, "We have forever to change things. It will take time but we can all make amends." Freya said looking at her siblings. Dad held his head high, looking away. Mikael slowly approached him, Dad stepped back into the counter, leaving him no room to move further. "I will atone for what I have done, I'm so sorry my son. I dare not ask you to forgive me, I've wronged you for over a thousand years."  Mikael said, kneeling at Dad's feet.

A single tear ran down Dad's cheek. He took a deep breath, placing his hand on Mikael's shoulder, "I'm capable of things many members of this family couldn't believe, such as forgiveness. It will take time, but I've always known you as my Father." Dad told him shocking all of us. Mikael stood, and slowly embraced Dad.

"I need you all to wear your disguises, Dad, Caroline I made new ones for you so Marcel and his men don't recognize you. I'm going to Richmond for a little bit. Things to do, vampires to see, hunters to kill. You know how it is." I told them heading out, Kai followed quickly behind me. "You know I love killing people, I'm coming." He said grabbing his coat.

1 day later

Kai and I had stopped at a hotel, not driving all night in a mad rush like we were to kill his family. "So your Dad seems nice." Kai said sarcastically. "You should have seen him a year ago. You would have been besties in the worst ways." I told him as we pulled up to Slater's Coffee Shop. We found the shop full but no Slater, we went upstairs and found Slater with a broke neck. Papers were strewn about the room, I could hear a human heart beating frantically.

Kai rushed and grabbed her. "Hello, human." He said, just as he was about to feed from her I froze him in his spot. "Come on man, you see his necklace, speaking of here's one for you. The necklace means he's coming back, no killing his girlfriend." I told him, smacking him on the arm after giving him a necklace. I repositioned Slater's neck, having to turn it almost all the way back around. I grabbed a flask, holding his mouth open and poured blood in.

While we waited, I looked around a little further, I found a bit of burnt sage in his back office. I could hear his bones reforming, the tissue reconnecting. His eyes shot open, then he was backing away from us with great speed. "Calm down Slater, it's just me and a friend. What happened?" I asked him, turning on the lights. "I don't know, one minute I was doing research for you and then my door is being kicked in." He responded clutching his neck.

"This is going to be painful but I need to know what you saw." I said, Kai came over, siphoning any dark magic used to block his memory of today. "He's good now." Kai told me, I gave Slater the flask, knowing how painful it can be to be siphoned.  I took his hand searching his mind, there was a thin, black woman and three tall men.

"Thank you, keep searching for me. Have you found anything of use?" I asked as Slater and I stood up. "Yes I found another Ascendant. I also found the Strix, they weren't happy being researched." He told me, handing me box with the Ascendant in it. "Thank you, and here is another check, I know money doesn't equate to a life's value, but it certainly doesn't hurt." I told him, writing a check for thirty-five million.

"It certainly does not. Thank you for the necklace." He told me. "Why aren't you turning Alice?" I had asked while going over paperwork. "I don't think she can handle it, she talks a big game, but there's a lot of baggage with being a vampire." He said, picking up papers off the floor. "Let's find out." I was as we walked towards Alice.

"Could you handle killing people without losing your humanity. Can you handle losing everyone you've ever loved while you stay young? The forever hunger that will always cause you a little irritation?" I compelled her. The human brain was a little slow responding to all the questions honestly. "I want to be a vampire, I want to be with Slater. The rest is just details that can be dealt with later." She said, then snapped her attention to Slater.

"I think those were good answers." I said looking his way. I grabbed a cup from his kitchen, "Alice come with me." I told her leading her to the bedroom. She looked excited and nervous. I cut my wrist bleeding into the cup, Slater stood by the door watching. I gave her the cup and she drank all of it, some humans like the taste, some don't. I put my hand up and twisted, breaking her neck instantly.

Slater and I closed the blinds, walking out and continuing the cleaning. Kai had put on a movie, and had made himself a snack. Slater was going to make a comment but I had advised him not to. Vampire or not, heretics are more easily agitated. We had just finished cleaning when Alice woke groaning at all of her pain.

I put a flask in her hand, letting her drink for a while, she tried to stop to ask about the pain in her mouth but I told her to just keep drinking and the pain would stop. I gave her a daylight ring, and compelled her to never go against the Mikaelson family. Kai and I took the info on the Strix, the Ascendant and left.
