After having dinner with the couple, Kakashi made his way back home, parting ways and wishing the best to his students.
"When are we going back?" Sakura asked, settling on her bed as Sasuke sat beside his wife.
"I need to pick up a few scrolls from Orochimaru's hidden base situated on the outskirts of the Leaf Village," Sasuke said with his eyes closed.
"What scrolls?" Sakura asked curiously.
"Scrolls containing more information about the Otsutsuki," Sasuke said, laying down on the bed.
"I see," Sakura said, rubbing her chin thoughtfully as she glanced at her husband, who stared at the ceiling.
"Oh yeah, while you were gone, I decided to get a check-up at the hospital," Sakura said, taking out a paper that seemed to be her health report and handing it over to Sasuke. He unfolded the paper and scanned its contents. As he read the gender of the baby, his eyes widened.
"We're having a daughter..." Sasuke said, his eyes wide with surprise.
"Hm," Sakura smiled softly, caressing her husband's face with her palm and slowly moving in for a hug. Sakura let out her tears of happiness in Sasuke's arms as he held her firmly.
"I told you," Sakura stated, chuckling as tears flowed down her rosy-tinted cheeks. Sasuke was overwhelmed with emotions, tears welling up in his eyes. In that moment, he felt like his parents and his brother were with him, watching and comforting him. Sasuke felt the warmth of his mother in Sakura's embrace.
"You were right, Sakura," Sasuke chuckled softly as he wiped his own tears on Sakura's shoulder.
"Are you crying?" Sakura said, lifting her husband's face in her hands, revealing his teary face and red pinched nose. She giggled softly at the sight of his expression.
"What's wrong?" Sasuke asked, his eyes wide.
"I hope our daughter looks as cute as this Uchiha right here," Sakura said, pinching Sasuke's cheeks, leaving him slightly pouting with red-tinted ears. Sakura burst into laughter upon seeing her husband pout for the first time.
The couple then dozed off to sleep, ready to embark on their journey once again. As they lay there, Sasuke's thoughts drifted to the future. He imagined their daughter growing up strong and kind, inheriting the best qualities from both of them. He felt a sense of peace he hadn't known in years, knowing they were building a future together.
The couple woke early in the morning and set off from Konoha toward Orochimaru's hideout. However, Sasuke's eagle returned with unexpected news.
"I see," Sasuke murmured as he read the note the eagle brought. He released the bird, watching it fly away into the sky.
"What's wrong?" Sakura asked.
"It seems we need to head to the southern side of Konoha," Sasuke replied, exhaling sharply.
"S-Southern? But we're already on the northern side and have passed the Konoha gates ages ago!" Sakura frowned.
"Don't worry, I can use my—"
"No," Sakura interrupted, placing her hand on his shoulder. "Let's not drain your chakra. We can walk."
They walked to the other side of Konoha, with Sakura growing increasingly frustrated.
"Where the hell is his damn hideout?" she exclaimed, frowning. Sasuke sighed, accustomed to her outbursts.
"I told you," Sasuke said softly as Sakura leaned against a large, unusually massive tree. She panted, then her eyes widened as she knocked on the tree and noticed something.
