(Charlotte's pov (main)
Taking a deep breath in, I close my eyes briefly before releasing. 'Breathe Charlotte. You can do this' I reassure myself before fixing my hair and grabbing my bag from the seat next to me. Today has been a day and a half already and it's only 8:30am.

To make matters worse, I've been sent to the Sister Nursery this week as they are short staffed. Reece is off sick meaning Mia is stepping in as Temporary Manager. Carly filled me in on most things 'Marjoreece' as she calls it. Let's just say Mia wasn't too happy for the couple and Marjorie's car paid the price. Although, apparently Winter then took her out with a door? It's quite a complicated situation.

Anyway, the few times I have spoke to Mia, she has been rather confusing. She's never openly said anything too nasty toward me. Which, although may sound like a good thing, from what I heard about her, it's strange. Mia is a very intense person for sure. There's something about her that... I just can't explain.

I'm brought out of my tangled thoughts when I hit something turning the corner. Not something. Someone.
"Careful sweetheart. You might hurt yourself if you don't watch where you're going" her voice is something different. Somewhat husky, but flirty, and I have no idea why or how but soothing. She smiles as I step back slightly startled and embarrassed
"I'm sorry" I apologise
"Don't be" she flicks her wine stained hair behind her shoulder.
"I should get going. See you later" I give her a quick smile before walking down the hall.

I know I'm not supposed to like her. And I don't. But the least I can do is be nice. I don't particularly enjoy being a total bitch like others do.

...

Just as I'm pouring myself a much needed coffee, my phone rings once again. Sighing, I press the red button to shut the thing up.

Nathan
Answer my calls.
Charlotte!
Hello?
I know you can see these messages.
Fuck sake Charlotte answer me!

The notifications flood my screen, covering the picture of my girls. With a deep breath I turn my phone on silent and put it in the locker.

I have 15 minutes until 9am when my shift starts. After finishing my coffee, I decided to go down to the preschool room early instead of dwelling on my home situation. 'Smile Charlotte. Just smile and do you job and it will be okay'

...

I'm now on my lunch break in the staff room and it's definitely been an eventful day. I have paint on my dress and ink stained on my hands from the activities today. After my break I'm going to take my group of kids out into the garden which I know they love.
"Uh, Charlotte?" I look up to find Olivia, one of the staff members here, "are you okay?" She asks politely and I smile back at her
"Yes, thank you. I'm just a bit tired"

Honestly, I'm exhausted. My mind is all over the place with the kids, Nathan, his stupid, unnecessary and obnoxious lawyer. Trying to keep up with the drama at work is a challenge too.

Not too long ago Reece was the one to stay away from. Now turns out he is the innocent one and Mia is the latest 'villain'. Marjorie is so caught up with Reece and Sorscha is in her own world with a baby on the way. Carly is Carly. Jodie tries her best but is as much hard work as a classroom full of kids. At least Autumn and Winter tend to keep to themselves most of the time.

Don't get me wrong, I love them all as they are. They're some of my closest friends and I love working in childcare. It's just a lot to think about.
