(Mia's pov)
If I get one more message from Roger I'm going to blow my own head off. He is not a happy bunny about Marjorie and Reecey and taking that out on me.I turned her car into a pile of scrap! What else does he want me to do? Get pregnant?!
My frustration fades as I notice a certain brunette walking up to the building out of my window. Her hair tied up with a claw clip so effortlessly as she rummages through her bag hanging on her shoulder.
There is something different about Charlotte. Something about her that just intrigues me. Her personality, precious smile, those bright eyes that are like the gates of heaven itself.
She's so simple but complicated. Calm and gentle and sweet. I truly believe she deserves the world and I want to give that to her. Maybe she wants that too? I know there is some kind of connection that I just can't explain. She makes me feel like a teenager again and it makes me crazy. It's a weakness. Charlotte is a weakness. I just can't decide if that's good or bad.
I also know that there's more to her than what meets the eye. Something going on in her life that she's hiding. From that phone call other day, I'm assuming it's got something to do with that 'perfect little husband' of hers. I want to talk to her. Make sure she is okay. The only problem is she doesn't seem to like me that much. Yet.
Next week she goes back to the other nursery and I won't get to see her that much. This week has been quite fun. Especially yesterday, working in the room with her. I even noticed her staring straight at me at snack time.
...
I walk into the staff room, knowing Charlotte is on her break right about now
"Good morning Charlotte" I smile at the woman. That dress really looks beautiful on her. She asks what I'm doing in here I reply with some lame excuse about the coffee machine in the office being broken. As I'm getting a coffee, I notice something about her that's... off? She seems nervous. Upset but definitely trying to hide it.
"Penny for your thought?"
"What? Uh, I'm fine. Not thinking of, um, anything"
"Sweetheart you can't lie to save your life" she looks to the floor and I can tell she's debating with herself to speak up or not. I want her to talk to me. But I don't want to push. So I wait quietly and take a sip of my coffee
"It's just, I don't know" she hesitates. I walk closer to her, gently placing my thumb under her chin to lift her head. I smile at her confused looking features and remove my hand
"If you did want to talk. I'm here"(3ed person pov)
Charlotte wanted to explode. Her mind was running in every direction after the argument this morning with her ex husband. Mia removed her hand away from the brunette and all Charlotte wanted was to feel it again. Her touch was like a breath of fresh air. Something she had never felt before. For that small moment, just a few seconds, everything in her mind was quiet.Mia begins to walk away and towards the door. Everything in Charlotte's body was screaming to stop her. Just call her name. Speak Charlotte. Say it. Stop her from leaving Charlotte!
Mia desperately wanted her to stop her. To call her name. To tell her to wait. But nothing came. She didn't turn back. As hard as it was, she just simply walked away.
Charlotte stood frozen in her spot. Lips slightly parted. The words trying to escape. But nothing came out. And soon she was alone again.
...
Charlotte spent the rest of the day stuck in her head. She tried to focus on working but Mia kept creeping into her thoughts. From the moment she left the staff room to now, driving along the road on her way home.
All of a sudden, a strange mix of grunts and clicks filled the silence and Charlotte's car begins to slow down until a complete stop.
"Oh for gods sake" the brunette huffs. She knows absolutely nothing about cars so won't even bother attempting to see what is wrong with the vehicle. "Can this day possibly get any worse?" She mentally sighs to herself. Normally, she would call her husband for these types of things, the only problem being he's no longer around. The woman grabs her bag from the seat next her, pulling out her phone.
"Oh perfect" she slams the device back into the bag after finding it with no battery.Looking at her surroundings, she finds a few odd shops and houses along the road. On the corner, she recognises a bar/ restaurant she went to with Marjorie not to long ago. Quite honestly, she could use a drink. However it is Thursday, and she has work tomorrow.
Charlotte eventually decided to walk in just to grab a coke before walking home. Or hopefully someone in there would have a phone she could borrow to call someone for help.
Of all the things Charlotte could have possibly done today. She certainly did not expect to find what she did in that bar. Or who she did.
"Mia?"
