Mia unlocks the door of her house and walks in, Charlotte trailing behind her.
"There's a charger in the kitchen for your phone" the two walked through the open plan living area/kitchen. Mia's house is very different to Charlottes. Painted an off white, modern, large area with cool lights brightening every corner.

Charlottes home is more cozy. Warm lighting and filled with plants and picture frames. It used to bring her comfort. Her home with her family. Now it's just a reminder of how her life has fallen apart. Going home every night to silence. It's a lonely and awful feeling.

Charlotte has only lived alone this past week and it felt like hell. She can't imagine what it was like for Mia. Living in this big empty house all alone.

"You're house is beautiful"
"Thank you" Mia opens the fridge and takes out a nice bottle of red, "drink?" The brunette hesitates to think about it. Well, it's not like I have a husband or kids to go home to. She nods her head
"Sure, why not?"

As Mia gets the drinks, Charlotte takes the opportunity to wonder around a little. She notices a small black picture frame on one of the shelves. It holds a picture of three happy kids. Two brunette girls and a blond boy.
"Is this?" She didn't even have to finish her sentence as Mia knew what she was referring too. She leans over the kitchen island for a better look,
"Autumn's 9th birthday"

Mia walks over to her, handing her one of the two glasses in her hand.
"Thanks. You all look so close and happy" Charlotte smiles. Autumn and Reece looked even more alike back then. A younger Mia was stood in the middle of the siblings smiling just as brightly.
"We were. Then we grew up" she sits down on the sofa, inviting Charlotte to join her
"And there's no way for you to be like that again?"
"It's complicated sweetheart"
"You keep saying that" Mia can't help but smile at the woman
"What about you? What happened with your husband?"
"It just... there was nothing there anymore. We both knew it" she takes a sip out of her drink "I did try to fix it. But I guess he prefers random girls in bars" Mia could see through the fake smile Charlotte painted on. She could tell it hurt her.

Mia places the drink down on the coffee table and adjusted herself to face the brunette
"What about your kids? What are they like?" Charlottes girls were everything to her. She would never pass up a chance to talk about them.

"Well Ellie is 10, 11 in a few weeks. She loves anything artsy and a good book will keep her entertained for hours. Isla is the opposite. She's 7 and a complete dare devil. She's crazy confident and not afraid of anything"
"Cute. Must get lonely when they're at their dads"
"Yeah... I just miss them"

Mia watched as Charlotte got lost in her thoughts. She couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked. Eveything in her wanted to close the gap between them. Hold her in her arms. She just wanted to know what it felt like. Just one touch. One kiss. One moment.

"Mia?" The woman snaps out of her trans, shaking her head slightly "are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just... never mind"
"What is it?"
"I just can't imagine who would be okay with loosing you. Your husband doesn't know what he had" Charlotte blushes at the comment, however attempts to hide it without the woman noticing.

"You're just saying that. I'm nothing special" At that moment Mia felt vulnerable. Not like she would ever admit it, but there was something about Charlotte that made her want to feel again. Feel everything that she had pressed down.
"I think you are" she leans over slightly to brush a loose stand of hair out of Charlottes face.

Tension was thick in the air. Mia held her hand in charlottes hair for a a small moment before removing it. The two women got lost in each other's eyes. Everything in the world seemed quiet. Still. Yet, at the same time the world was spinning around them.

They were closer and closer until their lips connected. Charlottes mind was going crazy. A thousand thoughts and only one stood out. Mia.

The two slowly pull away from each other to catch their breath, but only a few centimetres. Their eyes locked in each other's gaze, none knowing what the right thing to say is.

Mia's mind is in all sorts of places. She couldn't get over Charlotte. How that felt. She wanted more. She needed more. Snaking her hand through Charlottes hair to place it on her neck, she crashed her lips back where they belong.

Mia slightly pushes back so that Charlotte's back is laid on the sofa. The kiss deepens as the women let themselves get tangled in each other's presence. Forgetting the world for a moment.
