Reece figured out the problem with Charlotte's car and soon got it running again. Carly was already covering Charlotte, so Reece had let her have the rest of the day off.
Charlotte was now returning home with her girls after picking them up from school.
Ellie and Isla run into the house straight from the car
"Mummy, today I got a sticker for doing all my maths work, look!" Isla points to the little smiley face sticker on her shirt
"That's amazing sweetheart, what did you do today Ellie?"
"Nothing special. Just getting ready for SATs"
"Well I know if you do your best you'll be great darling. Why don't you go get changed and I'll sort dinner, yeah?"
"Can we have a sleepover mummy?!" Charlotte had missed her girls so much that she would love a night in with them more than anything else in the world
"Of course sweetheart" The two girls rush upstairs to their rooms. Charlotte pulls out her phone just as a notification pops up
Mia
Left your jacket here sweetheart. Can bring it round if you like xx
She didn't even remember getting the woman's phone number. Replying anyway, she excepts the offer.
...
"Incoming!" Ellie shouts from the top of the stairs before a pile of blankets and pillows come tumbling down the stairs. Charlotte laughs and picks up as much as she can to take into the living room.
The doorbell rings and Charlotte puts the stuff down on the floor before going back into the hallway,
"Ellie why don't you go set up, I'll get this"
"Okay mum" she walks into the living room and Charlotte answers the door to Mia
"Hello sweetheart"
"Hi, Mia. Thanks for bringing it round" Charlotte smiles
"Who's that mummy?" Isla comes padding down the stairs in her pink pyjamas clutching her little white bunny.
"Oh, this is my uh, friend. Mia" Isla walks to stand next her mother, smiling brightly at the redhead
"You're hair is pretty"
"Well thank you sweetheart, what's your name?" Mia crouches down to her eye level with a smile
"Isla! Are you staying for the sleepover?"
"Oh, uh, Isla baby-"
"Pleaseeee mummy!" Mia stands up to face Charlotte who sighs
"You really don't have to, it's up to you" the two women look down at the the pleading eyed 7 year old
"Okay, I'll stay for a little while"
Isla grabs Mia's hand, running her into the living room,
"Look! We can watch movies and eat pizza and- oh, this is Ellie!"
"Uh hi?"
"Woah okay. Hi, I'm Mia"
"Uh girls, why don't you go upstairs and grab the pillows of my bed, yeah?" Charlotte suggests
"Ok mummy!" The two girls run back upstairs, giving Mia and Charlotte a chance to talk.
"Sorry about Isla"
"Don't be, she's adorable" Mia quickly notices that Charlotte is looking everywhere but at her "Char? Are you okay with me being here?"
"What? Uh, yeah, of course" the woman smirks,
"If you're sure sweetheart" she whispers. Charlotte put on a smile, hiding the rush of emotions she felt churning around her stomach.
...
The girls are cuddled up on the sofa. Isla peacefully sleeping with her head rested on Mia's lap and Ellie curled up in her mother's arms.
They are halfway through the second movie and Ellie is just drifting off to sleep. Charlotte carefully snaked her arm back around her, laying her down gently before standing up.
Mia watched her walk out of the room before gently moving the 7 year old.
She walks into the kitchen, seeing charlotte with her back facing her.
"Char?" She turns around to face her
"Yeah? You want a drink or anything?" Mia walks around the the table towards her
"I'm good, thank you sweetheart. Are you okay?"
"Yeah of course. It's just..."
"What?"
"Seeing you with the girls and... I don't know" Mia raises her brow as Char struggles to find the right words.
Charlotte didn't understand how she felt. She couldn't explain it. But in that moment, she did know something. As Mia leans against the counter, there was one thing in Charlottes mind that was clear to her.
"I really want to kiss you right now"
