Glowing Flowers

I lay in bed, faelight glowing softly behind me as it cast down on the pages of my book. The house had left it on my table like it did most nights.

Mor had insisted I got some different clothes when she took me shopping, including quite a few nightdresses, which is what I had adorned myself in tonight. One that was black and silk, trimmed with lace. It left little to the imagination.

A sigh left me as the words were overrun with my thoughts, loosing the trail of the story. Azriel was on my mind, as I often found. A part of me was a little embarrassed about how I acted whilst I was tipsy, but on the other hand, I had never been so loose around him. And he had cooked for me. Just me. And that meant something right? he asked if I liked him and gods did I.

But I knew so little about him, apart from what I had learnt, and how he acted whilst I had been here. Perhaps I would have to seek him out more often.

Shadows slinked over my bedsheets, crawling towards me and twining between my fingers so I was forced to drop my book. I snorted looking down at them with a grin.

"naughty little things. I was reading that"

They didn't seem to care, crawling up my arms until they were around my shoulders. My hair was up in a clip so there was no hiding in that tonight. One of them settled around my ear but I couldn't understand what they were saying, it just sounded like falling sand.

"I don't know what you're saying, love" my lips pursed, flipping the cover off myself as I followed after the trail they had made towards the door. It was late so I couldn't imagine anyone was awake at this hour, not even Az.

They guided me down the hall, down a set of stairs where I hadn't been before towards a door, one that lead outside. It opened for me, and I walked out, hugging myself at the chill from the air.

"what are you showing me?" they didn't answer of course, but continued to guide me out towards the edge of the cliff, we were at the back end of the mountain now, giving us a great view of the river as it weaved down through the mountain.

The black shapes gathered near the edge and nerves pilled in my stomach. They weren't going to push me off...were they? I shot a glance back at the house before going towards them, crouching.

Flowers. That's what they had wanted to show me. These beautiful little blue flowers had just began to bloom along the edge, glowing softly in the darkness of night and I examined them with wonder.

My eyes snagged on the familiar sight of the training grounds, not far from here but there wasn't a clear path. I had been back a few times with the males since.

"do you know how to get me down there by foot?" I asked the shadows, pointing down at the grounds and they buzzed around me excitedly, going back towards the house. We made a quick stop at my room so I could get changed. Leggings, a long sleeved black top and a training corset that helped keep the girls in place.

The walk was a little treacherous, across the side of the mountain. It didn't help that it was dark either, but the shadows kept me upright, helping to direct my feet into stable parts of the rock.

Fae lights came to life as I stepped into the marble palace, lighting the space enough to see inside.

The nightmares had become less regular lately and I think it was my minds way of saying that it was ready, ready to try again. To start over.

Now I just needed something to fight.

As if reading my thoughts, the ground ahead began to shift, forming a marble man as I began to wrap my hands.

"well, isn't that just something" I mused, to myself and the shadows that had dispersed across the space, watching.
