Chapter 5: Opposite Attracts

[Y/n's PoV]

We both stepped out of the car and approached the entrance of the IPC building. Jade led the way; the security guards stationed at the door immediately recognized her and swiftly opened the gates for us.

The inside of the building was just as lavish and grandiose as the exterior with opulent decorations and well-dressed staff.

We headed towards Diamond's office on the top floor until finally, we reached it. The door marked with his name etched in gold lettering.

"You won't mind if I wouldn't join you inside would you?"

Jade turned back to me with a small smile.

"Oh? Actually, I would prefer if you were there- with me, of course. It will help Diamond understand you better if he sees you in person. Plus, your presence will also give me a stronger backing in my petition to assign you to me permanently, my little rabbit."

With that, she placed her hand on the door handle and pushed it open, revealing Diamond's imposing figure seated behind a massive mahogany desk. His eyes flicked over to Jade and then shifted to me.

"So, this is the new recruit." Diamond said.

He stood up from his seat and walked over to greet us. As he came closer, I could see his face more clearly- sharp features, piercing eyes, and a stern expression that seemed to pierce right through me.

"Jade has briefed me on the events that took place today," he said, "And I must say, you handled yourself very well, especially against the annihilation gang. That sort of strength and adaptability is exactly what we look for in our recruits."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"And, of course, Jade was rather persistent in her request that I assign you to her permanently. I see she's taken a liking to you."

"...What can I say," she said with a shrug, "I know a valuable prospect when I see one."

Diamond smiled slightly at the sight of our exchange. Perhaps he was rather amused..?

"It seems my hunch was correct," he said with a chuckle.

"Very well, you will serve her then. With her guidance and leadership, I have no doubt that you will grow to be an amazing asset under the IPC."

"Oh, right. I almost forgot. You're now a self-annihilator of the Aeon IX, yes?" he asked, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

"That's quite the interesting background. But don't worry, we don't discriminate here. Your past is just that- the past. All that matters now is your loyalty to the IPC."

He gave me a reassuring smile then glanced over to Jade for a moment before returning to me.

"...."

Jade just chuckled before placing her hand on my tense shoulders.

"Now that everything has been sorted out, I'll start taking care of your training personally." she said with a smirk.

"I suggest you get some rest tonight, my little bunny. You'll need your strength for training tomorrow."

With that, she gave my shoulder a firm pat before turning to Diamond.

"We'll get going then."

Diamond nodded in acknowledgment.

"Have a pleasant evening, Jade. Make sure our new recruit here trains hard."
