Chapter 23: Interrogation

[Y/n's PoV]

The morning light filtered through the windows of our shared room. I yawned and sat up straight. My eyes blink a few times to adjust to the light.

The memory of the previous night's events was still fresh, though the aches in my shoulder and cheek had somewhat faded. I looked at my side and saw her sleeping figure.

She's still asleep? Then perhaps I should go first.

As soon as I attempted to rise from the bed, I felt the familiar hold of Jade's arms pulling me back down. I just blinked in surprise, not even realizing she was awake as well.

"Good morning, my sweet little rabbit." she whispered against my skin and plant a few kisses to my cheek.

"Did you sleep well? No aches or pain?"

"None." I bluntly replied.

"That's good to hear."

Then her lips travel up to my ear where she whispers quietly.

"...Because I have something planned for us this morning."

"I'll be meeting with someone for an interrogation today and I'd like you to accompany me. I need someone I can trust by my side as well as watch my back. I know you're still recovering, but it shouldn't be anything too strenuous." she explained.

Ahh I see.

I shook my head. "No, it's alright."

"I thought you'd say that." she said playfully before pressing her body against me.

"Always so willing to take on challenges despite your wounds. You really are quite impressive sometimes. But don't force yourself too much, okay? I still need you to be in one piece when we're done."

She leaned in to give me a quick kiss before standing up from the bed.

"Now come on, let's get ready for the day."

I nodded and stood up from the bed to stretch a little.

"I'll go take a shower and get changed. Then we can leave."

I walked towards the bathroom and heard Jade's soft chuckle behind me.

"Come now, don't think for a moment I'm gonna let you shower alone."

I halted my steps then turned my back to look at her with a raised eyebrow.

"What?" she said while feigning her innocence.

Why am I not surprised...

I sighed and decided to ignore her comment before entering inside.

Once in there, I undone my clothes and stepped into the shower. I also heard the sound of shuffling behind me along with the muffled sound of clothing hitting the floor.

I turned around to see her entering the shower stall alongside me with a sly smile on her lips.

"You weren't really expecting you'd be able to shower alone, did you, my little rabbit?"

"...I didn't have to since you'll join me anyway even if I refuse." I said to her.

"Oh my, you're finally starting to get the idea~" she said playfully.

She then stepped closer under the running water.

"The shower had been fixed and with simple observation, I now know how to properly use it so shouldn't you be at the bathtub right now?" I asked.
