[Y/n's PoV]
I was unceremoniously pulled into the meeting room surrounded by a room full of influential individuals and corporate elite. The atmosphere was tense with the smell of expensive perfume and well-tailored suits filling the air.
Jade led me to a seat at the table then pulled out a chair for me before taking her own seat next to mine. She leaned back in her chair and surveyed the room indifferently.
One of the men, a middle-aged man with grey hair and a stern expression, clapped his hands together to get everyone's attention.
"Alright, let's get started everyone." he began.
"We all know why we're here. We're here to discuss a very important deal that will greatly benefit our companies and our stakeholders. We've been in talks with the Heads of the Interastral Peace Corporation, and..."
A few more minutes had passed as I tuned out the man's rambling while my gaze wander around the room.
Everyone seemed to be hanging onto his every word as he droned on and on. I then glanced at Jade. Her expression is still unreadable.
The woman, who had greeted Jade earlier took charge afterwards of the proceedings. They listened intently as the various executives and business leaders exchanged information and discussed their plans and strategies.
Jade participated sparingly, interjecting only when necessary and her points were always concise and calculated.
I shifted in my seat— restless from the monotonous meeting. Jade, however, leaned over and whispered in my ear.
"Bored?" she murmured teasingly.
"I apologize for making you sit through this terribly dull meeting. But there's a reason why you're here, little rabbit."
"An unexpected development has appeared earlier. One of the individuals attending this meeting is not who they claim to be. They're an infiltrator."
Ah, so that's why...
I followed Jade's gaze and it landed on the woman sitting across the table from us. It was the same woman who had greeted Jade earlier, the one who had assumed I was Jade's girlfriend. She seems distracted by all her speech and hasn't noticed us looking at her.
"Watch her closely," Jade whispered, "She's one of our main suspects."
Later...
Several hours had passed as the meeting dragged on. My mind was slowly becoming numb from the seemingly endless flow of information and discussion. However, after a long wait, the woman in front of us soon excused herself— citing a need to freshen up.
While she was gone, Jade leaned in close to me once more.
"Follow her." she muttered.
I nodded slightly before leaving the meeting room and ventured out into the main area of the building. I walked down the hallway while glancing around to make sure the coast was clear.
I followed in the direction in which the woman had left and after a few moments, I found her in a secluded corner. She doesn't see me since her back was turned to me while she scrolled on her phone.
I quickly hid behind a pillar silently— observing her movements through a gap between the pillar and the wall.
What is she even doing...
..?!
My senses tingled— warning me of danger. In a swift move, I sprang to the side just as the woman's tail shot out towards me with a hiss, lodging itself into the wall with a sickening crunch. The woman then spun around, her eyes narrowing as she realized her surprise attack had failed.
