[Y/n's PoV]
The sudden sound of the gunshot cut through the tranquil ambiance of the restaurant causing a palpable stillness to settle upon us. The other patrons and staff members reacted with surprise and fear.
But to my confusion, Jade appeared seemingly unperturbed as she continued to savor her meal nonchalantly.
I sighed before tugging her down at the table.
"Can you try and contact the IPC?"
She met my request with a nod. Despite the gravity of the situation, she remained composed and unflustered.
Her fingers swiftly navigated her communication device, tapping a sequence of commands to reach out to the IPC.
My gaze then drifted towards the entrance of the restaurant and a sudden realization struck me like a bolt of lightning. Standing there was a group of armed individuals, their weapons held firmly in their hands. The absence of any security guards confirmed my suspicions; the restaurant's defences had been neutralized by the intruders.
As the group of intruders approached the nearest table, their menacing presence immediately cast a shadow of fear upon the unfortunate group seated there. Their weapons drawn, they began to issue their demands with a chilling authority.
Jade's expression also remained composed as she observed the unfolding scene as her focus keenly trained on the situation at hand.
"The IPC is en route, my bunny," she relayed in a whisper.
I nodded slightly as I glanced at the unfolding scene. My gaze fixated on the intruders dragging a hostage by her hair. The harrowing cries of the guests echoed through the restaurant. A voice within the group spoke up with urgency.
"Boss, we've got a problem. The IPC has been alerted, someone inside here must have contacted them."
The boss, a towering figure amongst the group, responded with a low growl.
"Damn it. Change of plans. We'll have to finish this quickly." he barked.
With a menacing glare, the boss pointed his gun directly at the hostage.
"Whoever called the IPC, show yourself," he growled. "If you come forward now, I'll spare this one's life."
A silent moment passed between Jade and me— our eyes locked in an unspoken exchange. We both knew the gravity of the situation and what was at stake. Without much thought, I whispered to her quietly.
"Stay here."
She was about to protest but I already stood up and revealed myself.
"Well, well. Looks like we've got ourselves a little hero here, eh?" He sneered.
"A hero..? No, I wouldn't go far by that. I just did what was necessary." I replied back nonchalantly.
A sinister chuckle escaped the boss's lips as he surveyed me.
"How noble. But rest assured, your nobility won't save you."
"Perhaps, but do you mind letting go of the lady now? I finally revealed myself haven't I?" I asked him.
However, the boss chuckled darkly as he tightened his grip on the hostage's arm.
"What makes you think I would just let her go that easily?" he taunted. "Your defiance hasn't yet convinced me."
I tilted my head in confusion.
"Do you mean surprises? I'm afraid not. You can check on me to see if I'm really armed or not."
