Pacifica's path

As promised, my dress/suit arrived at noon. I waited until the evening to put it on because everyone kept on trying to peak at it. Again, what's the point in a masked ball if you already know what everyone's wear is? Which is why I convinced everyone to leave at different times. That way we for sure don't know what everyone looks like until we're at the party. I just can't wait to hang out with everyone! And of course, eat all the food.

I look into the mirror and slightly mess with my hair. I hope Pacifica doesn't mind me matching the colors of her party. Is the mask a bit much? I did pick a more detailed one since my outfit while elegant, is rather simple. The designer didn't seem to think it was a bad idea so I've got that going for me right? My cheeks flush as I think at the idea of matching her. Would she be mad? No right, I feel like she'd be flattered I thought of her when helping design this. I bet there will be a lot of people wearing purple! I was never so right and wrong at the same time. Everyone wearing purple was wearing a dark purple that could almost resemble the Nightsky if it hadn't been dark blue. It was packed with so many people I recognized but also with so many people I had never seen before. How does Pacifica deal with all of this all the time? Does she know the people who come beforehand or does she deal with meeting strangers all the time? A little uncomfortable I head over to the snack table. "Champagne miss?" I look at the butler. "Ah- um, no thank you. I'd prefer something nonalcoholic if you don't mind?" He nods and offers something that looks like champagne but smells very sweet like green apples and no alcohol at all. "What is this?" He looks at me smugly as if he were pleased by my asking. "This, miss, is something called 'Kidibul'. It originates from the Belgian province of Luik. Children and young adults drink these as well as drivers who can't have alcohol to celebrate special occasions." I look at him intrigued. "Fascinating." I take a small sip and my eyes widen. This shit is good! It's like apple cider if it had no alcohol and was way more addicting as well as refreshing. I blush a bit, flustered as I put down my already empty glass. The man smiles at me knowingly and fills my glass again. "Thank you, sir-" I look around the room, trying to see if maybe I can spot a friend. Sure enough, the first I can spot is Dipper. In his simple black suit, he's struggling to put on his tie while his black mask keeps falling off of his face. I was about to head over and tag him, but someone on my way caught my eye instead. A beautiful blonde girl with a lavender dress, and a white mask was making her way around greeting guests. "Can I have a second glass, sir?" He grins and hands me a second glass. I greedily make my way to Pacifica. The girl had just finished greeting some people I hadn't properly talked to yet and turned away when I got to her. "Pacifica, hey!" The girl looks around surprised until her eyes meet mine. "Y/N? Is that you? You look- breathtaking." I blush and hand her a glass. "Great party, couldn't help but notice you didn't have a drink." She smiles at me about to refuse the glass. "It's not alcohol don't worry." She hesitantly took it and took a sip. Her face just like mine lit up like a Christmas tree. "I love this drink, I didn't know we served it tonight!" I softly sigh, slightly disappointed I didn't serve her something new. "Of course, you'd know it, you have good taste after all." The Northwest giggles before sighing a bit defeated. "I'd love to stay and talk but I have a lot of guests to greet still." I quickly grab her free hand before she can turn away. "Wait! W-would you mind if I joined you? I'd love to see how you meet so many people-" She looked almost relieved as she smiled at me. "I'd love to have a friend by my side." I followed her as she greeted people and introduced me to everyone who hadn't met me yet. It was amazing how good she was at holding a conversation. It was almost 11 PM and she only now had been able to greet everyone. "I have to go check if everyone is having a good time-" I grab both her hands as somewhere along the way we finished our glasses and put them aside. "Pacifica Northwest. Look around you. Everyone is having a blast. But you'll never feel fulfilled until you also start caring about you having a good time." She looks at me stunned as I slightly bow and hold my hand out. Behind me, the dancefloor called out to her. "Will you grant me the pleasure of dancing with you?" She only nodded as she put her hand in mine, I gently pull her into the crowd, putting my hand on her waist, my right hand remained holding hers. I start to lead her to the song, my eyes never leaving hers. She finally started to loosen up, her face showing genuine joy as I twirled her around and tipped her. She squeals softly with joy as we continue to dance, slowly growing more comfortable and closer. Our moves grow more loose and feel more natural as the night goes on. Suddenly a loud bang outside stops us in our tracks. Everyone was rushing to see the fireworks at the window. I was about to join them, but Pacifica held my hand stopping me from doing so. "This way!" She quickly starts to run, I have a hard time keeping up with her. Until we stand on a balcony alone, watching the night sky fill with explosions of color. I smile softly as I put my arm over her shoulder and feel her rest her head on my shoulder unable to believe it's already midnight. This evening felt so, alive! "Look Y/N! A shooting star!" I smile looking at her. "I don't need one anymore... I already got my wish today. I gently bow to her and kiss her hand, causing her face to turn bright red. However, I am the one ending up being even more stunned as she takes a deep breath, puts her hand on the railing of the balcony, and screams at the top of her lungs, barely audible due to the fireworks. "I wish to live happily with Y/N!" I'm so sure my face is more red than the fireworks being sent off. I pull her into a hug and we both continue to watch the fireworks like that. What a perfect night.
