Wendy's path

As promised, my dress/suit arrived at noon. I waited until the evening to put it on because everyone kept on trying to peak at it. Again, what's the point in a masked ball if you already know what everyone's wear is? Which is why I convinced everyone to leave at different times. That way we for sure don't know what everyone looks like until we're at the party. I just can't wait to hang out with everyone! And of course, eat all the food.

I smiled into the mirror. I like the dark green color. It's bold but elegant. I wonder if Wendy will wear green too- I quickly slap my cheeks as I start blushing. Woah there buddy! She might be cool and all but she might not like it if you're wearing the same color dress/suit! She was still at odds with her feelings on when her ex used to date her friend. I just hope she doesn't get mad. I quickly fix a strand of hair and head outside, up to the mansion. The fresh air hitting my heated face does help cool down. But my mind can't escape the thought of the possibility. Come on Y/N. It's not like she has a claim over some color. Besides, there will be lots of people wearing all kinds of colors. Though green is probably not a color worn a lot... If anything she might think it's cool we're matching. For all we know she didn't wear green today! I went straight to the drinks when walking in. I needed something to help me calm me down and holding something was the only thought that came to mind. A few butlers are standing by the tables making sure no one cross-contaminates or spikes anything to prevent allergies and all that. Pacifica has outdone herself with this event. I chuckle spotting Dipper almost right away, tucked away in a corner. Trying to tie his tie while his mask keeps falling off of his face. Poor dude. Pacifica in a lavender dress and white mask suited the party well. But it also made it easy to spot her as she made her way through the crowd, welcoming everyone.

I almost choke as someone tags me from behind. How did they find me?! Only to be met with Wendy's face being extremely close to mine. "Found you, dude!" I laugh nervously, suddenly remembering the kiss on the cheek she gave me the other day. "So you have- hey we match-" I smile at her. She looks so elegant yet so cool dressed in her sea-foam green dress. Her hair is put up in a ponytail but upon closer inspection, I can see a small braid on either side of her head going into the ponytail. Her white and golden mask as well as her lighter green dress contrasted with my dark green attire and black mask. "Yeah we do, and we own it! Cheers to that!" She picks up a glass as well and holds it up. "Cheers to us rocking the greens!" I say back, letting our glasses softly touch each other before taking another sip. I was looking her in the eye while doing so, that is until she started to look back and I decided that the bubbles in my drink were rather fascinating. "Are you nervous?" My shoulders tense up instantly. Am I that much of an open book? "What gave it away?" Her chuckle made me feel more at ease. "I really hope it's not because of the other day." "Other day? What other day? I only know tomorrow!" She lets out a laugh. "Calm down, you sound like Dipper when you're stressed. Hey- would you maybe like to get some fresh air?" Our conversation gets interrupted as we hear some commotion at the entrance. A big ginger guy was arguing with security about whether his axe should be allowed to enter with him as it's part of his accessories, making his outfit whole. Wendy's family had arrived. "Fresh-" It got interrupted again by us hearing Robbie nearby asking around about Wendy. He then spots us and starts to make his way to us. I quickly grab her drink and put it down on the table with mine. I grab her hand and start going through the crowd. I found my way to the gardens easily enough as I had passed by the door to Pacifica's room when the gardener was snipping the roses bushes next to the door. The garden hedges were decorated with fairy lights and under the night sky it felt like we were surrounded by stars everywhere. I stare up at the sky captivated by its beauty. "Hey, Wendy?" "Yes?" "How do you stay so calm and just- so cool all the time? This entire puberty thing- I know we've both had it a couple of years but it's just so... uncomfortable... at times I just want to run away from society and live as a caveman not to deal with the pressures." I feel her thumb brushing my hand softly as I only now realize we're still holding them. "I may seem calm all the time but in all honesty? I'm stressed so much more than half the time. Have you met my dad?" I chuckle thinking about how he made his entrance earlier. I do recall Wendy complaining earlier this summer about her dad constantly bumping into everything including the ceilings at home so the moment he wakes up the house is filled with his screams. "I can imagine yes..." But I can't fully... It must be so stressful not to have any quiet place to go to. It's amazing how she managed to keep herself together. "If you want to- you can sometimes come have a sleepover in my room at the shack. I'm sure the others won't mind, and it'll give you the chance to take a breather. When I have my own place, you'll be welcome to permanently move in." The ginger smiles at me. "That'd be nice... do you mind if we sit out here for a bit?" "Not at all." We find a couple's swing adorned with flowers and decide to sit down there while enjoying the view. I couldn't help but smile when I felt her interlock our fingers a bit before midnight. I look up at her only to notice her leaning in. My cheeks burn bright red as our faces get closer and closer. However, before we get to this milestone a loud bang snaps us back to reality. The sky filled itself with rainbow colors as fireworks were shot into the sky. I didn't even realize how much time had passed but I did not regret coming. I lay down my head on her shoulder and feel hers laying on mine. I can't help but grin. I don't regret it at all.
