I could not deny that from the rest of the meal, my heart was pounding out my chest like none before.

I didn't see this coming. I didn't know that meeting with some blonde smokeshow in a random club would lead me to actually discovering that he's actually the man I've been chasing most of my life.

I sat silently most of the time, not wanting to say something that may give away my true identity. I was watching my words like never before, it was a game of life or death here.

All of a sudden, my phone rang, Jake turned his head towards me, and eyes fixed onto me. I cursed to myself internally, looking at the caller ID.

Oh great! Looks like people just want me to die!

To my surprise, it was Jaewook himself, what he wanted in this moment from me exactly right now, I had not a clue.

He knew I was here, so why the fuck was he calling me knowing this call could lead my head to be on a stick.

I looked over at Jake, bowing slightly before heading out of the room - thank god he didn't ask me to answer the call in the entire room - because then I would've literally been dead on the floor.

I stepped outside, a bit further from the room, answering the call.

"What the hell are you calling me for?" I bitterly spoke first, this call could have cost me my life.

"I'm sorry Hikari, I was scared for you - how is it going?" Jaewook responded, and I just rolled my eyes with a groan.

"Alive and well, as you can tell." I deadpanned, pissed at the fact he still randomly called me knowing the situation.

"I'm sorry okay - I just don't want you to die." Jaewook gave a sigh, "Have you got any clues right now?"

I debated on telling him about Jake, really thinking my options through - the pros and cons.

One huge con, was that I was not going to see this fine ass man again, if I opened my mouth. And yes, it was immoral of me, an agent, to not tell anyone about my discovery.

But who wouldn't do the same if it was Jake? Exactly.

I decided to keep my mouth shut for the time being. If anything, I'd take him down myself, without the help of any other forces.

"No, nothing yet." I told him straight up, sure, felt like an asshole, but let me enjoy this for the time being, I'll strike when he strikes.

"Alright.. Hikari, stay safe please.." Jaewook pleaded slightly through the phone, and I just gave an inaudible sigh.

"Yeah, okay." I responded, and with that, I hung up.

Before heading back in, I took a deep breath, trying to collect myself and bring myself back to this facade of a person I was being.

Jesus Hikari, you're hanging out with actual mafia members. Oh the irony.

Just as I was about to step inside, my hand on the handle, muffled voices came from the inside. I couldn't decipher who was who, considering I knew the name of two people in there.

But I knew one thing, they were speaking about me.

"Where'd you find Hikari?" One of them asked, and the room went silent for a little. My heart raced out of my chest.

"Crazy story. At a club." Jake deadpanned, his voice cold.

"She's fucking hot as hell." Another chimed in, and I couldn't help but give a small chuckle to myself.

The room was silent for a little moment, and I assumed because Jake was staring whoever said that down.

"Did you do a background check on her?" A different voice added into the conversation, and I raised my brow gently, in interest.

"I did. Her story checks out. No parents, no relatives, she's a nurse. She's cleared." Jake replied, and ooh, looks like he didn't do his research hard enough.

Every agent had a fake profile listed, for this exact reason. If someone decided to try and conduct a background check, it'd show up as an ordinary person - not a government agent.

"How sad, what're you gonna do with her?" Another voice said, and in that moment, I didn't want to listen anymore, I swung the door open, heading back inside as all the eyes trailed their way onto me.

I sat beside Jake, and he looked at me, head turned and observing my face so shamelessly.

"Who was it?" He raised a brow, and I took a sip of my drink, turning my head to look at him too.

The eye contact between the two of us was always something intense, I don't know, his gaze seemed to be on me alot.

"My colleague, he asked if I was busy." I suppose it wasn't exactly a lie, but not exactly the truth either.

"He?"

"Yes, he." I coldly responded, leaning back and crossing my leg over the other.

Jake simply gave a chuckle, shaking his head lightly and continuing his conversation.
