The hotel room felt like it was holding its breath. Soft, golden light streamed in through the curtains, the Las Vegas skyline stretched out before us, but none of it registered to me as I adjusted the straps of my dress. It was a simple blue top with a diamond skirt, which match the whole glitz and glamour of Vegas.

Tonight wasn't just about attending the Vegas Formula 1 race. It wasn't about the glitz, the glamour, or the flashing cameras.

Tonight, I was making a choice. The choice to walk into the Mercedes paddock with Lewis by my side.

I ran my fingers through my hair, checking it in the mirror one more time. It was down, sleek, with soft waves falling past my shoulders. It wasn't extravagant, but it suited me. It made me feel more like myself—more like Delaney, the tennis player who once ruled the courts, than the woman trying to figure out how to navigate a relationship that would undoubtedly send shockwaves through the world.
