CHAPTER FIFTY TWO

Omer and few soldiers were secretly informed before about Larona's condition by Zain's reasons for ordering them to protect her safety and being alert of her movement since he was informed about his unborn child. Around midnight, a drunk soldier and his colleague were sharing drinks at a fancy bar that was part of the Baghat's entertainment area inside the household.

"I have never seen Mr Radebe become this serious about this mysterious woman. Let alone hear that he's planning to get married." The drunk man opened up his thought. "I'm actually surprised too my friend because what if this lady is a citizen but has no clue of what the boss is doing?" The colleague replied. "That would invite drama and we all know that the Don and Mr Baghat won't approve it." The drunk soldier commented.

Strangely the gentlemen notice the unknown woman who is finding a way to exit the property which made them to look at each other feeling suspicious of her. "Do you know that woman my friend?" The colleague immediately asked. The drunk co-worker took his time to recognise her and for a moment he had this to say, "I think i may know that woman from somewhere but what surprises me is, what is she doing here?"

"Who is she?" The colleague questioned. "If i remember her name correctly i think it's Ariana. Someone who works for the Don's daughter." The drunk colleague answered.
They carefully study her body language from her movement which made one of the soldiers to not trust her intention of being in the mansion. "Excuse me my friend, I want to get to know her a little better." The colleague mentions that to his drunk friend and secretly follows Ariana.

By the time Ariana succeeded to leave the event and was walking towards her car, a sudden click from a gun that's being positioned, travelled to her hearing thereafter she stood still. That slight sound scared her. "Turn around and face me" a man's voice echoed. She carefully follows his order and remains quiet.
"What are you doing here?" The man finally spoke. "Isn't it obvious that I'm a guest for this gathering like everyone else?" She sarcastically replied.

"If you were a family member I'd believe your useless response. Who send you here?" The mafia soldier commanded. "Uhmm.. sir I genuinely think you're overreacting with this. Please let me go." Ariana nervously said as she slowly backs away from the gunman. "One more step you'll take, a bullet will land in your knee. Start talking." The soldier sternly warned this woman.

Ariana panicked and began to run for her life. The soldier did not hesitate to shoot at her leg which resulted her body falling on the ground. She painfully cried and tried to access her phone for an emergency call. The gunman carefully walked to her body and confiscated the smartphone. He went through her call history, as well as social media accounts for any suspicious intent. He recognised Thandeka's contact detail however it didn't bother him.

While looking down at Ariana's state of health, he instructed one of the security guards to call the personal doctor who was present at the feast. Eventually Ariana was picked up and had medical attention in a guest room. Soon after that, Emelda heard the news and went to supervise the situation.

"Ariana, are you okay?" Emelda spoke after recognising who got shot. "Yes Mrs Baghat I'm okay. Some crazy man shot my leg thinking i was a thief or something." She replied in anger.
"Who the hell is responsible for this?!?!" Emelda exclaimed in anger too. Not one person spoke in the security team as well as the soldiers of the mafia. The gunman successfully left the scene way before this situation brought attention to his boss .

"I hope you all investigate this with urgency." Emelda instructed the men and after that, they left the scene. "What really happened Ariana?" She questions her. "Exactly what I've told you mam. Some crazy man was after me assuming that i was not invited to this event." Ariana explained. Even though Emelda was tipsy from her enjoyment of the feast, deep down she wasn't convinced about Ariana's story. She knew that Ariana was never invited to the private event that's dedicated to only family relatives. However, she decided to pretend that she's understandable with her.

"Alright sweetheart, I'll send someone to send you home and your car can be parked here for tonight. " She said to Ariana as she excuses herself from the room. She meets up with a drunk soldier in the hallway and holds his wrist to stop him. The man tried to behave professionally to show respect for his superior. "I need you to investigate the woman that got recently shot. She's not part of the guest list. Find out her actual reason to be here and report that matter strictly to me." Emelda Baghat softly gives her directive to the man. "Yes mam. I will do so." He replied.

Once they parted ways, Emelda continues to enjoy her night while remains vigilant. Her husband was by her side together with their sons having a wonderful time. This precious event brought unity in relatives and the relationship between families had strengthened positively. The Baghat family hosted this night with elegance and for that they were given thanks by such a lovely experience in their home.
