SIXTY EIGHT

LAWS FOR THE WIFE.

This was the day; Larona was escorted to a safari lodge that reminded her of her hometown. She was happy to find out what's in store for her. Bodyguards as well as few well-dressed female servants were walking with her to a certain area inside this beautiful place. When they entered the room, it was a designed boardroom and there was a document alongside a black ink for signing.

Three men who wore expensive suits were quietly standing while they put their armory on guard. One of the gentlemen thanked those who accompanied Larona and all of them left the place. Larona was nervous by the way these men conduct themselves with such seriousness. In the midst of silence, a man's voice spoke, 

"Welcome, Miss Larona. My name is Micheal Baghat, and I am Zain's uncle. I am here to explain the terms and conditions documented regarding being the official wife to this family. As you are well aware of the kind of job we do to survive in this life, whoever commits themselves to our family as a spouse, they must sign under oath that whatever unfolds in the things we do, it remains as a secret until death." 

Larona's nervousness made her struggle to keep calm while she gets used to the setting of this meeting. She softly agrees to Zain's uncle's statement which then made him to continue speaking, "Miss Larona, I'll begin by instructing you to take a seat and listen as you page through the details."  Shortly after that, Zain's uncle and Larona sat down while the other men guarded the entrance for privacy.

 "From the first few pages, the wife's code of conduct is given by the husband's family because you will be part of us therefore, the values that we live by must be obeyed respectfully by all means. Your loyalty is measured by keeping our illegal activities as secrets until death. Should you expose sensitive information by revenge or by compromise, death penalty will be your punishment. You will be obligated to go under training for safety purposes if male family members are not there to assist your emergency. You may own a business of your choice in a different province or be a housewife. As the Baghat family, we do not accept wives being employees of someone else or work for government. It compromises their safety and that will give our enemies to target easily."  Micheal explained. 

Larona was shocked at what she heard. She remained silent and Micheal Baghat continues on. "The document also details other terms and conditions such as financial benefits for the future and maintenance. A wife from our clan is granted to choose her own vacation house from any international country. In this case miss Larona, you will need a passport. You will be given money based on the rate we operate in this family." While Larona looks at the figures, her mind was blown away. She discovers how many international bank accounts as well as a South African bank account she will get accessed to. This shocking news made her to ask a question. 

"Uhh...Sir Michael, are you telling me that if I marry Zain, I get billions of money annually? Every assets listed in here belongs to the whole family but this is how much I will have by just getting married?" Micheal laughed and answered her. "We are a mafia family Miss Larona. We live for power and what money can multiply for our women and children to enjoy the rewards." She was out of words but allowed Micheal Baghat to proceed with their meeting. 

"If you are found guilty of any act of disloyalty to your husband. You are dismissed with immediate effect but be warned, every secret you may witness from our family, it will not set you free if that's what you think.  If your husband is found guilty of any act of disloyalty, he gets killed and you may remarry a relative from the same family." 

Larona clears her throat while she tries to stay comfortable throughout this meeting. The rules sounded hard to live by but fairly reasonable according to her perception. Micheal concludes his speech of explanation to her by adding on with this, "This document cannot be reviewed therefore it is either you decide to sign in agreement with the code of conduct, or you simply walk out and never be part of Zain's life. It may be a lot for you to understand this at such notice, however as time goes on you will gain clarity from this." 

After taking time to think about this whilst hearing the explanation from Zain's uncle, Larona decided to sign the document. After the completion, their meeting ended, and Larona was taken back to her place. She found Zain preparing a bottle for their baby inside the kitchen, they greeted each other with a kiss, and she randomly asked him a question. "What exactly is your position to the mafia lifestyle?" Zain was not prepared to answer such but chose to tell her. 

"Let's just say I am the president of a criminal state." Larona wonders for a moment and then replies to Zain, "Your family's generation had been doing this since forever?" Zain chuckles by that question and he gives an answer, "Ever since my mom married Idris Baghat, her entire life changed as well as mine. I was too young to understand but I was lucky to be raised by a loving man who is also dangerous to those who mess with him. The Baghat family are very strict with their wealth and security. Even though we are morally bad people in citizens' eyes, just know that the lifestyle we live is for us and not for them."

"Will we get married like couples who go to home affairs or courthouse?" Larona asked. Zain smiles at her and gives her a warm cuddle. He kisses her forehead and replies to her by saying, "You'll see how we will get married my love."
