You love me with your bones,

You hold me when I'm broke,

You don't ask for a thing,

Oh, I hope it's you they put me in the ground by.

OUTER BANKS.

LAIA'S POV

Rafe and I lingered behind Limbrey's group of goons, who were preoccupied with digging under the ancient oak's sprawling branches. A cold morning gust cut through me, making me shiver. My shorts and Rafe's oversized shirt, the only clothes I had after he'd kidnapped me, were no match for the chill.

Noticing my discomfort, Rafe shrugged off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders. He said, his voice gruff but with an undertone of concern. "Here."

I glared at him, immediately shrugging off the jacket, letting it fall to the dirt. "I don't need your help."

"What's your problem, Laia?" Frustration flickered in Rafe's eyes. "I'm trying to make this easier for you."

"Easier?" I echoed, my voice thick with sarcasm. "Kidnapping me and holding me against my will isn't something you should be proud of excelling at, Rafe."
