I had promised Allison dinner. Since meeting Alastor, I hadn't seen her or Thomas. Part of it being that I'm exhausted by all angles at the end of the night.
Instead of spending my days in peace watching hell destroy itself, I had a demon obsessed with being my friend. He wasn't my friend nor will he be.
I finished cooking up some soup dumplings and just let them stay warmed up in the oven.
Allison busted up on my house scaring my wings out of my body
"Y/nnnnnn!!!! It's been forever" she squeezed me into her arms.
"Chill chill" I shouted
"Sorry sorry. It's just been almost two months. I've been worried about you. You normally call at least once a week." Allison took a seat at the dining table. I served her a plate and sat across from her.
"Yeah I know. I'm sorry. Work had just been different since we last saw each other"
"Tell me what's going on?" She dived into my food.
"Well the day I tried all those new pastries, I went to work like normal. During my work day, a demon came and approached me. He has been bothering me since. I've tried so hard to change my spots, hours, etc. he just finds me everywhere I go" I sighed. It felt nice to get something off my chest.
Allison gasped mid bite "are you alright? Did he try to hurt you? I'll fight him."
"Surprisingly no. He hasn't laid a finger on me since we've met but he keeps insisting we are friends when all we do is spend all day fighting what's right and wrong" I frowned, sinking into my chair
Allison thought for a moment "you know, you could use this to your advantage"
I tilted my head "what do you mean"
"If you pretend to be his friend, it could help you get the inside scoop in hell. Make it easier on your work" Allison finished her plate.
I blinked my blue eyes twice. "That would be deceitful."
She laughed at me "yes and you think demons aren't? You have to play dirty to get what we need. If you're really so worried about it, maybe when you get back, we can pray together. I doubt anything bad will come of it if you actually get good information you need"
"I guess you're right"
"I'm always right"
I giggled. That wasn't true but maybe she is right this time. I could befriend him. He is an overlord so he knows a lot more that's going on. Maybe if we get closer, he'd warn me if anything bad is going to happen.
Allison left not too long after that. She wanted to get back to her husband.
I took a seat at my desk, looking over my notes. There is one thing left on my mind though, in a week, I take my day off of work. My forced one at that. Alastor wants me to witness this to prove he is trustworthy.
I don't know how I can manage to do that without heaven knowing and straight up lying.
Whatever. It's fine.
