Ship: Seungmin / Hyunjin

Words: 1,683

Summary: "Do you want a good night kiss?" Hyunjin flashes his eyes open.

Seungmin is already blinking at him as Hyunjin meets his eyes. And just by the expression, just by the way Seungmin is looking at him, Hyunjin knows it wasn't supposed to be a joke. Again, it's the déjà vu.

---

Being best friends with Seungmin means a lot of things. Seungmin isn't just a childhood friend to Hyunjin, but he couldn't consider him even as family. He's more than that.

Seungmin is a person Hyunjin would protect at all costs. He would sacrifice his scholarship to punch someone in the face if they bullied him. Hyunjin would risk getting grounded, just so that he could buy Seungmin's favourite snacks in the middle of the night and pass it over to him.

Since kids, they have been neighbours. Since kids, they understood each other so well, that there was sometimes no use of verbal communication to understand the other's needs.

Hyunjin remembers so well that night, when Seungmin showed up unannounced at his house. Holding cutely a Pochacco plushie from its ear.

"What are you doing?"

"Sleepin' over"

"Can you?"

Seungmin tilts his head to the side, as if he had never thought about it before. It's late, Hyunjin should've been asleep since longer now. His bedtime is at 10 pm, but he's sure now it's way later than that. It's probably late for Seungmin too.

"I was always allowed to sleep over at yours" he then mumbles, and raises Pochacco a bit higher to his chest. The plushie isn't new, his mom had gotten him for last year's ninth birthday.

Hyunjin is still standing in front of the main door, trying to block the way inside with his whole body. He needs a proper explanation before letting him in, he decides.

"Did you your parents fight?" he tries. "No", the latter immediately replies, and starts to nervously tap his foot. Hyunjin looks down at it, then back to his face. Seungmin is wearing pyjamas already, his hair isn't combed thoroughly as usual. "Okay"

They silently walk their way to Hyunjin's room, which is a massive bedroom considered for a couple of people, actually. But Hyunjin doesn't have any sisters or brothers, so which is why he doesn't mind having someone sleep over. Especially Seungmin.

"Do your siblings know about it?" Hyunjin asks, as he raises the covers from the bed to slip in. Seungmin moves to the other side of the bed, and places the plushie on the mattress before doing the same. "About what?"

"About you being here" The elder exhales as he slips under the sheets. They had turned off the lights earlier, so that the bedroom is all dark. Hyunjin's luminous wall stickers are the only thing that light up. He feels Seungmin's body move closer to his, his head being placed on the same big pillow Hyunjin is resting on. "My brothers are not here, they are in a soccer camp. And I didn't wanna disturb my sister"

Hyunjin doesn't answer, just hums lightly. Seungmin's plushie is being placed between them and the covers are getting raised to their shoulders. Like this, it's warm and cosy. Life is special but unimportant at the same time when you're still a kid. Hyunjin realizes he's glad he doesn't have any other siblings or would have to share Seungmin with them.
