Prithvi's Pov
I leaned closer to Avantika, intending to bestow a gentle kiss upon her forehead. Her eyes fluttered closed in silent approval, and my heart skipped a beat.
In that fleeting moment, our world seemed to slow, and I reveled in the anticipation of sharing an intimate gesture. But just as my lips were about to brush against her soft skin, the door creaked open, startling us both.
"I am sorry" a voice interjected, and we turned to find a nurse standing with her back towards us. I cleared my throat, my cheeks burning with embarrassment, while Avantika's face transformed into a blushing mess. I chuckled as she buried her face in the quilt, her body trembling slightly.
"Come" I urged the nurse, who turned with a knowing grin. "It's time for dinner" she announced, placing a bowl of khichdi on the bedside table.
To my surprise, Avantika's expression brightened as she engaged in conversation with the nurse. Her eyes sparkled with a captivating allure, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. She smiled looking at her words.
Her killer smile!
I thought placing my hand at my heart, which was beating loudly with just a glance of her smile.
"So, he is your fiance" I heard the nurse asking her who nodded with a smile "Yes, he is"
I like my new introduction, Avantika's fiance
"Sir" the nurse addressed me, "I think you should also have dinner in the canteen. By that time, I will feed her" Her words sent a shiver down my spine. I hated the thought of being separated from Avantika, even for a moment.
"It's okay" I declared resolutely. "I'll feed her myself" Avantika's eyes widened in surprise, and she gasped, "You?"
"Yes, I" I confirmed with a determined nod "I promised Papa that I would take care of his daughter"
The nurse left us alone after adjusting Avantika's bed. I picked up the bowl, the smell of khichdi filled my nose. Disgusting!! I hate this thing.
"We can get any other thing if you don't like khichdi" I offered, knowing Avantika would probably decline. This was the only food the hospital served, and she had been eating it for days.
But to my surprise, she looked at the bowl with a flicker of interest. "No" she whispered, her voice raspy, "I like Khichdi"
My heart ached for her. She was so weak, so vulnerable. I gently lifted the spoon, scooping a small portion of the khichdi.
"Open your mouth, Avantika" I said softly, holding the spoon near her lips. She opened her mouth hesitantly and slowly chewed it.
After her dinner, I gave her medicines and soon she slept. I got myself a cup of coffee and sat on the couch in the room.
The silence of the room was punctuated only by the soft breaths of her sleeping peacefully on the bed. I, slumped on the couch, sipped my coffee, the bitterness a stark contrast to the sweet ache in my chest. I watched her, my jaan, her face pale but serene in the dim light. The memory of her shattered, her eyes filled with fear, still haunted me.
I thought back to the past few days, the events that had turned her world upside down. The betrayal, the cruel attack that had left her broken, the loss of everything she had painstakingly built. My mind replayed the moment I had found her, the terror etched on her face. It fueled the fire of vengeance burning within me.
My phone buzzed, the notification displaying 'Eklavya.' I picked up the call, my voice low and menacing. "Eklavya, how is he?"
"Kunwar Sa" Eklavya's voice crackled through the phone, "He's...broken. One hand is useless, with the other foot"
"Good" I interrupted, "Remember, I don't want him dead.'
"Surely, Sir" Eklavya's voice held a hint of eagerness, a reflection of my own simmering wrath.
"Take him to Udaipur" I commanded, "Show him our hospitality. Let him know the consequences of messing with Prithvijit Singh Sisodia"
"Umm...Kunwar Sa" Eklavya paused, "How's Bai Sa now?"
I glanced at the sleeping woman, my eyes softening. "She's healing" I breathed, "Slowly"
"Hope to see her well soon" Eklavya said before hanging up.
I, lost in my thoughts, removed my shoes and loosened my shirt. I had a habit of sleeping without it, finding solace in the freedom of my skin. I walked to the bed, my gaze fixated on my jaan. I gently caressed her cheek, my thumb tracing the curve of her jaw.
