Jisoo, Boston
Malcolm and I have been doing this weird friendship with benefits thing for a long while now. Thankfully it was still just a casual thing and we seriously treated each other like friends, but sometimes, the weirdest shit happened. Like today. It was a Sunday, we finished all of our exams a few days ago, so he was packing to go back to his family's house for the summer, because he didn't want to keep the dorm, since he had a perfectly good home not that far from here.
Me on the other hand? I didn't want to do that. I decided to stay in Boston, but since I couldn't really keep the dorm over the summer, I moved to Yohan's place before exams started. It's been a little harder to see Malcolm that way, since I didn't want my brother to find out that I have been seeing his friend for months now, so we were kind of sneaking around. I didn't want Yohan to know, because he could be a little protective sometimes, maybe even a little too much. And besides, we've talked about being friends with benefits with someone before, he told me all about his time with Jesper and asked me not to involve myself in shit like that, ever. We all know how that turned out.
So I actually drove Malcolm to his house with all his stuff, because he didn't have a car here. Not only that, I found out that he didn't even have a driver's license. When I asked why, he said that he never needed one, because he had his own personal chauffer, which made me laugh. His family was really posh, as he liked to say.
I only realized how loaded his parents must have been when we finally went to his house. I mean, my family was rich, but we lived in Manhattan, in a townhouse, so it was no mansion. Malcolm's house though? It was one. A big one at that, with a huge private driveway and all that.
I guess that was to be expected, since his mother was the Sherry Reed. She was an icon, a freaking legend, an amazing surgeon, one of the best, and besides that, she was a celebrity, because she came from a long line of Warrens who founded the best hospital in Boston, so she was basically born to be successful. And his dad, well, he was a pretty known surgeon as well. He was a neurosurgeon and his mom was a heart surgeon, which definitely interested me more. I wasn't really hoping to meet them today though, since they were probably at work, being busy people, but I was looking forward to meeting them someday, I think everyone would love to get to know people like them. I wondered if Yohan ever met his mom, since they were close now.
Anyway, when we finally crossed the long driveway, I was surprised to see someone waiting at the entrance. Not just someone, but a few someones. And not just anyone, Sherry Reed was standing right there, with a few people, who must have been members of her staff.
"You didn't tell me your mother would be home," I said before we got out of the car.
"I had no idea she'd be here," Malcolm said, frowning deeply while looking out the window. "Oh bloody hell, I didn't expect her to be back so soon," he added, clearly not happy about it and then he got out of the car, and as soon as he did, the woman ran to him like she hasn't seen him in years.
"Malkie, darling, I'm so glad you're home," Sherry said, and wait, did I hear that right? Did she just call him Malkie? Like what the actual fuck.
"Mother," Malcolm spoke, forcing himself for a smile. Oh boy, he did not look happy. "What are you doing home so early? I thought you were in Syracuse until next week."
"It's your father's birthday today, you know I wouldn't miss it," the woman said, smiling at him politely. Damn, so I basically crashed a family reunion, amazing. I shouldn't have brought him here, I feel a little out of place all of a sudden. "Who's your friend, darling?" Sherry asked, averting her gaze from Malcolm, focusing her full attention on me.
