New years, Same old school. After everything school is the last thing Blaze wants to do. But she goes anyway. School is the only thing she can do. The only thing to distract her from everything. Plus she wants to see Amy. Blaze misses her already. This crush on Amy is getting a lot. Blaze doesn't mind anyways. If this could make her enjoy school more she'll take it. A pretty girl is nice to have around. Blaze likes it. When she gets to school she's happy to see Amy there, Amy looks happy to see her too. They sit down and go back to normal. Well as normal as they possibly can be with everything.
"Doing good?" Amy asks
"Yes, you?"
"Yeah, I'm better now. My grandma is going to move in with me, I like her and she's nice... So it's should be all good"
"Good to hear, anything else?"
"Not that I want to talk about, you?"
"Same here."
The two go through the rest of their classes easily. Going all the way back to normal, mostly. Nothing changes in their classes. Same old, same old. School is always like this. Doesn't matter, it works for the two. Then they get to lunch.
*Pssssst, Blaze* Silver whispers to Blaze.
*What Silver?* Blaze whispers back
*Why does everyone look so depressed?*
"...You cannot be serious."
*Why did you stop whispering?*
Besides Silver being stupid. Nothing else happens, to the relief of all. Silver being ignorant is normal and has been a constant for forever. So they keep going on their day. But after that, Everything goes back to bad. Of course it does. It always does.
Art still sucks. Amy hates it. She struggles and now her Teacher isn't doing work. Good for her, Amy thinks. So she keeps going. Until she feels a presence behind her. Amy turns around to see her teacher over her.
"Hello?" Amy asks.
"Hi there."
Amy turns back to her painting and goes back to work. Drawing and erasing, drawing and erasing. Drawing and erasing, drawing and erasing. Like always.
"You know you could always ask for help."
"..." Amy turns around to her.
The teacher smiles at her.
"Sure..."
The teacher takes her work and exsplains in painful detail how to do everything. Amy watches her glass eyed as she goes on and on about this intricate shapes and how it all works and goes together. Amy only hears what she needs to here. After eternity, the teacher concludes.
"Now you."
Amy does exactly as she's told. Relating her teacher's words exactly. Amy goes and finishes quickly and easily. No trials, nothing weird. Plain and simple.
"Well, it isn't the best but it does work. I would say that it would be I would like to think...I want to say... 75? Yeah that sounds about right." She states matter of factly.
Amy looks at the teacher examining her work. She checks and checks and checks and checks and makes sure everything is correct and in it's right place. Making it is absolute the way she instructed.
"I must say, you got the farthest more than anything. First one to pass this class. I guess that's it. Well, congratulations." The teacher smiles at her as Amy stares at the painting.
The teacher goes back to sit at her desk. Amy looks around, nothing to do. Nothing at all. Absolutely nothing. It's done. Gone. For nothing. Why doesn't it feel good to finally be done? She starts thinking, maybe a bit too much. Maybe a lot more than she should.
"That's it?"
"What?"
"That's all?" Amy looks at her teacher dead in the face
"Well I mean-" the teacher starts thinking
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"
"Excuse me?"
"I WORK ON THIS FOR DAY, HAVING NIGHTMARES ABOUT THIS PROJECT ALL JUST TO GET A SINGULAR ARE CREDIT AND FOR WHAT? SO I CAN MAKE FRIENDS THEN GET THEM BOTH TAKEN AWAY FROM ME DUE TO HOW LONG THIS TAKES? I DID THIS SO I COULD HELP MYSELF AND GET AN ART DEGREE! BECAUSE MY PARENTS DIDN'T WANT TO SUPPORT ME! I JUST WANTED TO DO MY PASSION!"
"I'm sorry, I mean, I know what-"
"MY PARENTS ARE DEAD NOW!"
"..."
Amy stares fuming at her teacher. She goes outside and slams the door. Leaving her teacher in the dust and unresponsive. Amy doesn't care about her.
Amy walks out, fuming. She walks around until she realizes she has nowhere to go. She looks around until she can find an empty room. She thinks she found one located in the middle school. But it's the music room. Blaze looks at her as soon as she comes in. Amy doesn't notice her at first. Getting a tissue and sitting down in front of the first row. Crying and blowing into said tissue until she wears it out and gets another one. She then cries and blows into this other one too.
Blaze gets up and walks over to her. Then Blaze sits down next to her and pats her on the back. Amy looks up directly at her, teary eyed. Amy cries into Blaze's shoulder. She cries for a long time. When study hall comes. Blaze walks out with her to their study hall. Amy does better so that she can get up now. Even if she's still a bit wobbly, They get there on time at least. Study hall goes back to completely normal after Amy stops crying. Blaze keeps comforting her and making sure she is fine and nothing else can go wrong. Everything is good again, like it always does.
Study hall is good. Homework is normal. Neither of them ask any questions. Going around back to normal. The bell rings and the period is finished. Amy and Blaze walk out, happy that the day is almost over. Both for the same reason. Today being done might be the best thing that has happened to either of them today. School will be over soon. It will all be gone. It will all be finished soon. It will all be over soon. The best is yet to come.
