Flashback

In the midst of Delhi's relentless traffic, Rajveer slammed his hand on the car horn, muttering under his breath as the congestion refused to ease up. After what felt like forever, the cars ahead finally began moving, and he floored the gas pedal, eager to get home after a long, exhausting day. But just as quickly, he had to hit the brakes, his heart pounding as he spotted a girl crouched by the roadside, clutching something to her chest.

"Hey, are you alright? You almost jumped in front of my car!" Rajveer shouted, his voice laced with both worry and frustration. The thought of what could've happened if he hadn't stopped in time made him shudder.

The girl shot him a fierce glare, clearly unbothered by the near-miss. "And what were you thinking, Mr. Formula One, speeding around like Delhi's streets are your personal racetrack?" she snapped back, her tone dripping with irritation.

"I'm really sorry," Rajveer said, his voice a lot softer now that he realized how reckless he'd been. His eyes shifted to the tiny puppy cradled in her arms, and he understood just how close things had been. "You could've hurt the little guy."

As he stood there, something about the girl in the pink kurta tugged at his heartstrings. She'd jumped into danger to save the puppy without a second thought, and Rajveer couldn't help but be impressed.

"My bad, really," he added, crouching down to her level. "Apologies to both you and the puppy." Just as the moment started to feel a little too intense, a random passerby shouted, "Hey, if you're done with your street-side romance, move the car!"

Rajveer felt his face flush as he stood back up. "Uh, right, sorry!" he called out, flashing the girl an awkward smile. "Yeah, we should probably move," Rajveer agreed, realizing how ridiculous their chat looked in the middle of the street. He quickly pulled his car to the side, and the girl followed, still holding the puppy close.

"So, umm, what's your name?" Rajveer asked, still feeling a little awkward about the whole situation. "Alia. Alia Kapoor," she answered softly, her focus mostly on the puppy.

"I'm running late, so I better get going," Alia added, gently setting the puppy down, and watching as it ran off into a nearby garden. "Oh, right, of course. Bye," Rajveer replied, but couldn't help blurting, "I hope we meet again soon."

Alia blinked, clearly caught off guard. "Huh?" Rajveer felt his face heat up. "Uh, nothing. Bye." Alia gave him a smile—small, but enough to leave Rajveer standing there, completely smitten.

After all, it had been four years in Delhi, and Rajveer knew that having his family by his side was impossible, but friends? He had no time for that after work. However, this girl, Alia, had caught his attention. Something in her smile made his heart feel something he hadn't felt in a long time.
