The next morning, the Singhania household gathered for breakfast, and today was Siya's turn to make her first meal for the family—something called "pehli rasoi." She decided to make moong dal ka halwa, a sweet dish she hoped everyone would enjoy.
Siya knew the Singhania kitchen well, having spent time there before, but this time felt different. She was cooking as the new daughter-in-law.
As she stirred the halwa in the pot, the smell of the roasting dal filled the kitchen. Abhimanyu walked in quietly, his curiosity piqued. He leaned against the doorframe and watched her for a moment before speaking.
"Hey," he said softly, stepping closer. "Are you okay? Need any help?" Siya looked up and smiled. "I'm fine, Abhi. I know where everything is. I'm used to this kitchen."
Abhimanyu raised an eyebrow. "How come?" She looked at him for a second, then went back to stirring. "I've been here before, for other things."
Abhimanyu nodded. "Got it," he said, not pressing any further.
Once Siya finished preparing the halwa, she turned to Abhimanyu with a playful look. "Want to try it? I need your opinion." Abhimanyu grinned. "Of course. I'm honored to be the first taster."
Siya scooped some of the hot halwa onto a spoon and handed it to him. He took it without thinking, but as soon as it touched his tongue, he winced from the heat.
"Hot! Hot!" he exclaimed, blowing on it to cool it down. Siya giggled and stepped closer. "Shit, sorry! Let me cool it down for you."
Without thinking, she leaned in a little and blew on the spoon. Abhimanyu's eyes met hers, and for a moment, it felt like they were the only ones in the room.
When the halwa cooled enough, Abhimanyu took another bite. "Perfect," he said with a smile. Siya blushed. "Thanks," she said quietly, still smiling at him.
The moment felt a little special, just the two of them, sharing a quiet connection. Abhimanyu brushed a strand of hair out of her face, his touch lingering a bit.
"You did great, Siya," he said, his voice soft. Siya's heart skipped a beat. "I'm glad you like it," she said, feeling a little shy but happy. Abhimanyu smiled, and they both snapped back to reality. "Let's serve this to everyone," he suggested, his tone warm.

Aarti took a spoonful of the halwa, her eyes lighting up as she tasted it. "Sweetie, this is delicious!" she exclaimed, genuinely impressed. "You did such a great job."
Siya blushed, her heart full. "Thank you, Ma."
Aarti smiled warmly and reached into her pocket, pulling out a small velvet box. She opened it to reveal a stunning pair of gold earrings. "Karan and I wanted to give you something for your pehli rasoi," she said, handing the box to Siya. "Welcome to the family, dear."
