I turn another page of Victors' file. I've read it over a hundred times. This is like 'the deal of the year' and Gramps has trusted me with it. Victors is like the top-notch organization in west coast. If we get this deal, then we'll establish a stable place in west too. I can't screw this up and let Gramps down. My gaze scans the stats, memorizing all the figures.
The Wyatt Corp.
Grandpa has built this company from ground. What had started only as a chain of hardware stores, now has expanded into number of different businesses all across the world. We are now one of the leading hardware manufacturing companies in the country. It's all grandpa's hard work that has made this all possible.
No matter how many times my father claims that it's his efforts and dedication that has brought Wyatt Corps to its current top position, everybody knows that it's anything but true. It still baffles me to this day on how Grandpa even made him CEO in first place. I thought it'd be one of the members of boards but instead Gramps chose him. He sure as hell doesn't deserve the title at all. My father always had everything handed to him on silver platter.
I close the file when I start to feel the strain creeping up in my eyes. The clock on pale blue wall, just right above the couch shows it's little after eleven, indicating that I've been working continuously for last four hours.
Suzanne and I yet had another fight last night. And after that I couldn't stay home and had run to the only place where I could think properly. I've sat there thinking about anything and everything that's going on in my life till I could feel the warm rays of sun crawling up on my skin. Instead of heading back home, I've just come straight to the office. And in all of this time, not even once Suzanne tried to call me or just text me to ask where I was. If she'd been out all night without me knowing about her whereabouts, I'd have been worried sick. Before I was mad at her but now all I'm feeling is hurt.
I was the first one to arrive in the office and have been cooped up in here since early hours of morning.
I put the file down on the desk and press the button on intercom.
"Boss?" My assistant, Stella's voice comes through the device.
"Please bring me the coffee." I ask and cut the call abruptly.
Rising to my feet, I walk around my desk towards the glass window. The office building is at the heart of city. And my office is on the 28th floor, unlike the offices of other executives on the 30th floor. My father didn't want my office anywhere near his. And being the CEO, no one objected his decision. I had no problem with it either. I'm actually happy to be as far away from him as possible. My father and I, we've never seen eye to eye.
The glass window gives the magnificent view of city. Watching the skyline from here has become one of my favorite things to do.
I think back to time when Suzanne and I had first started dating, I was totally head over heels for her and then when she had broken up with me a year later, I had been shattered. And yet when she had come back asking if we could get together, I had said yes without a second thought. After that we've had fights like any other couple over silly things, but we'd always managed to get past those no matter what. We've been each other's rock for long time. We've always loved each other deeply.
But lately, I'm not feeling that love anymore.
Suzanne has made a mission to pick fights with me for no apparent reason at all. And I've been patient through it all. We were perfect till two months ago, planning our wedding and all but out of nowhere Suzanne started to distance herself from me. And now she is like this totally different person and not the girl I fell in love with.
