After retrieving my coffee from the truck that faithfully stationed itself outside our university gates, I found the table where some of the guys were seated. I half-listened to their mundane chatter before my gaze wandered, taking in the clusters of friends sipping coffee or nibbling breakfast. Speed-walkers whisked past, intent on making it to class on time. My eyes landed on a lone figure who captured my interest; they sat alone at a table, headphones on and book in hand, periodically setting down their coffee cup to turn the page before lifting it back up for another sip.

I had never seen this stranger before - they stood out yet clearly tried to blend into the background. Clad entirely in black, they wore loose cargo pants and a short sleeve button-up left open to reveal the dark shirt underneath. Their jewelry was understated - just two silver necklaces and a bracelet. I traced the shapes of the tattoos that decorated their arms with my gaze.

"See something interesting?" I heard Hongjoong ask from beside me, making me start.

"What?" I questioned, turning to meet his raised brow.

I tore my eyes away from the mysterious stranger and glanced at Hongjoong. "Oh, just someone I haven't seen around before," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

Hongjoong followed my gaze, his eyes scanning the lone figure with curiosity. "Huh, they do look intriguing," he mused. "You know, i think i've seen them before"

"Yeah?" I questioned, my mind drifting back to the stranger. There was an air of mystery about them that piqued my interest. I couldn't help but wonder what their story was.

As if sensing my thoughts, Hongjoong nudged me playfully. "Well, why don't you go talk to them?" he asked with a smirk on his face

I laughed at his suggestion, shaking my head. "Nah, they dont look like they want to be bothered" i shrugged

Hongjoong shrugged, taking a sip of his coffee. "When has that ever stopped you?" he said with a mischievous grin. "But suit yourself, i guess"

I couldn't deny the truth in his words. The stranger's presence had already sparked my imagination and left me with an unexplained longing for something more.

Lost in my thoughts, the minutes slipped away unnoticed until our group started gathering their belongings, preparing to head to our respective classes.

As we stood up from the table, I stole one last glance at the enigmatic figure. They were engrossed in their book once again, seemingly oblivious to the bustling world around them. Silently hoping our paths would cross again someday.

With a final nod to Hongjoong, I followed my friends towards our first lecture of the day. But deep down, a seed of curiosity had been planted, and I couldn't help but wonder what secrets and stories lay hidden within the pages of that stranger's life.
