An uproarious laughter echoed through the apartment as Jongho stumbled over Yeosang's legs and collided with the floor, face down. The rest of the group, their hands clenched in mirthful convulsions, attempted to stifle their own laughter as they struggled to regain composure. Laney and I sat nestled in the cozy chair, the one that had become a fixture in the room since the day we first introduced it, and we had grown closer than ever before.

In these last few months, we had become best friends, confiding in each other and supporting one another through thick and thin. We spoke about the award we had won for our design project, a project that had been entered into a secret contest by our professor and was lauded by the judges, who praised it so highly that we were granted a generous monetary prize. We decided to save this prize for future endeavors, whatever they may be.

As the boisterous laughter continued, the room filled with energy and warmth. I couldn't help but feel grateful for the bond that had formed between us all. These guys - minus myself - were like a family, a kinship that I had always craved but never truly experienced. I admired the friendship they shared, the unwavering love and support they offered one another. It reminded me of the bond that Hyuk had with Jisung and the others, something I had always aspired to have but had yet to achieve.

But with this group, Laney, they were the family I needed. I had found a place where I belonged. Laney leaned in and asked, "Do you ever wish you weren't here?" I was taken aback by her question, my brows lowering in confusion. She smiled, her eyes glistening with pride, urging me to answer. I glanced around the room, taking in the lively scene before me. Wooyoung was playfully teasing Jongho for his fall, Yeosang was preoccupied with his phone, scrolling through a food menu. Yunho animatedly chatted about a girl he had met in class who had inquired relentlessly about Mingi and San, who remained silent, their gazes fixated on Laney and me.

My heart swelled as my eyes met Wooyoung's, his smile wide and genuine. I couldn't imagine my life without them, these friends-turned-family. A sudden thought crossed my mind, and I laughed softly. "If you hadn't fallen in love with Hongjoong and cooked up that plan to lock us in a room together, I don't know where I'd be right now."

I reached over and squeezed Laney's hand, my voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you. Your ill-advised plan with Hongjoong was one of the best things that ever happened to me, and for that, I'll always be grateful."

Laney wiped her tears away, her eyes sparkling with emotion as she smiled. "That day I asked you for your notes, I spent the entire class period debating whether or not I should talk to you. And I'm so glad I did."

Before we could part, we were engulfed in a massive dog pile, the result of our closest friends piling on top of us, creating the largest dog pile in history. With late-night study sessions with Laney or chaotic movie nights with the entire group, this was where I belonged, and I could only hope that this moment would never change.
