I wasn't even irked that Laney was dating Hongjoong. Truthfully, if she had confided in me from the start, yes, I would have been peeved, but if she's content, I'm glad - I don't care who it's with. But ambushing me and tossing me into a room with Wooyoung of all people goes too far, if I'm honest. I pounded on the door to Wooyoung's room, pleading for someone to release me from this nightmare. They've all lost their minds.
"Laney!" I yelled, "Open the damn door!"
I scratched and banged on the door, even trying the handle to no avail. I yanked the silk ribbon from my hair, letting it cascade around my face, and used a bobby pin to try picking the lock, but nothing worked. The door remained stubbornly shut, my prison for who knows how long.
Having tried and failed to escape the confined room, I realized my only way out meant a ten-story plunge out the foreboding window. Exhausted, I sank into the chair beside the desk, far from Wooyoung who sat on the floor by the door. Staring out the vast window, my mind buzzed with unanswered questions, mostly centered around getting back at Laney once I was free.
"Maybe I should just jump out of the window," I mumbled to myself inadvertently.
"That's quite a drop from ten stories. Do you hate me that much?" Wooyoung furrowed his brow, his eyes reflecting genuine sadness.
"Hate is a strong word. No, I don't hate you. I've never truly despised anyone, except maybe this boy who used to bully my brother when I was ten," I admitted, fidgeting with my restless hands.
"What did you do to him?" he asked, intrigued.
"I pushed him to the ground," I confessed softly, lost in memories.
"I'm sure he deserved it," he replied with a gentle chuckle that made me smile in return.
"Yeah..." I murmured.
"They shouldn't have locked you up in here," he said sympathetically, surprising me with his sudden compassion.
"Why are they doing this? You must know something since we're in your private quarters turned prison," I sighed in frustration.
"I have no idea. Why would I be in on it?" Wooyoung leaned back against the door, deep in thought.
"They are your friends," I argued, arms crossed defensively.
Wooyoung stayed silent for a long ten minutes before letting out a heavy sigh. "They think they know something," he finally whispered cryptically.
"And of what?" I raised an eyebrow in question.
"Nothing..." He fell silent again.
"Wooyoung, if you have any clue, you need to tell me or else I'll-" I started but he cut me off.
"You'll do what, Ollie? Hate me even more?" His eyes widened dramatically.
"You know what? I'm seriously considering jumping out of this window now," I declared as I stood up from my seat.
"Unless you're Superman, I wouldn't recommend that," Wooyoung chuckled.
"I may not be Superman, but I am Batman. You don't know me," I quipped, a small smile on my face.
Wooyoung's face fell as he played with his fingers that rested in his lap. "You won't let me get to know you," he said softly, so soft that I almost didn't hear him. My ears grew hot and I wasn't sure if it was because he had just called me out or if it was the lingering effects of being mad at Laney. I really am going to kill that girl.
