"What are you always reading?" The muffled words barely registered through my headphones. I brushed them off, sinking back into my book's pages. Reaching for my coffee cup, another hand snatched it first. Irritation flared as I looked up to see who dared disturb my solitude. My headphones and book weren't clear enough signs to leave me be? Or the fact I sat alone? I peered up through my lashes to find Wooyoung holding my cup, his fingers curled around its warmth. With a sigh, I set my book aside, headphones sliding to rest around my neck.
"What do you want?" My flat tone conveyed my annoyance.
"What are you reading?" His brows arched up, head tilting in curiosity.
Damn, why did he have to look so cute? I shook the thought away, clinging to my irritation. "It's not the same book. This is the third one this week," I said crisply.
Wooyoung's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly recovered with a sheepish grin. "Wow, you're quite the avid reader then," he commented, handing me back my coffee cup. I took it from him, feeling a small twinge of guilt for snapping at him.
But then he spoke again and the guilt went away. He had a grin on his face and it was like he saw the guilt and I didn't like that. "What's the point of this, Wooyoung?" I sighed, crossing my arms in defense.
"You know my name? What are you, a stalker? Is it because I'm good-looking?" As Wooyoung flipped his hair away from his face, I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his dramatic gesture.
"The tiny man at the bookstore told me, dumbass," I said, trying not to sound too annoyed. His face twisted into a fake scowl, and he playfully jabbed at my height.
"You're tiny, too," he teased, making me wince slightly.
"Excuse me? I'm taller than he is," I retorted, feeling a small sense of pride.
"That's still tiny in my book," he grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Seriously, why did you come over here?" I deadpanned, trying to maintain my composure.
"Awe, I thought we were having a moment," he pouted, clearly amused by our exchange.
"You call that a moment?" I laughed, shaking my head. "Yeah, okay." I rolled my eyes, completely unimpressed with his display of affection. "In your dreams, pretty boy," I added, trying to get some digs in.
"Awe, you think I'm pretty," he cooed, clearly enjoying my teasing. I couldn't help but smile at his playful demeanor, even as I tried to maintain my indifference.
"Go away," I said, picking up my headphones and preparing to put them back on.
"But we were having a conversation," he pouted once more before his grin returned.
"No, you were annoying the piss out of me," I said bluntly, trying to convey my true feelings.
I let the headphones snap back into place, picked my book up, and pretended as if he wasn't there. After a moment, he got the hint and walked away, rejoining his friends. The tension between us had been palpable, yet there was an undeniable chemistry that lingered in the air. I knew that, deep down, we both enjoyed our banter, even if we were both reluctant to admit it.
