A couple weeks ago, Laney somehow roped me into working at the cozy bookstore with her, insisting that with just her and the manager working there, an extra set of hands would make her life infinitely easier. She explained that while her days off were normally set in stone, lately there had been a day or two that she was desperate for off, and without my help, she wouldn't be able to have that cherished time to herself. I didn't mind the proposition at all - the bookstore was a quiet haven where I could escape from the chaos of campus life. More specifically, it was a sanctuary from Wooyoung's constant, enervating presence; it felt like every time I turned around on campus, his mischievous grin appeared right in front of me. I'd started to somewhat enjoy his lively antics, though I'd never admit that to him. But at the moment, I desperately needed a respite, so when Laney asked yesterday if I could cover her evening shift alone, I eagerly agreed, craving semi-solitude.

The bookstore called to me like a gentle siren song, promising a few hours of peace nestled between its cozy bookshelves. I had just finished shelving the returned books and now with nothing else to do, I padded back to the front desk and sat down on the stool provided for us. I propped my feet up on the desk and put my headphones on, leaving one ear out so I could hear when someone came in, and pulled my sketchbook out. I had a design idea for a shoe and I needed to get it drawn out - my pencil danced across the page as the messy sketch started coming together. Once that was done, I grabbed my dark inky pen and traced over the sketch to clean up the lines and add more detail.

I heard the bell on the door chime merrily and I set my sketchbook down and sat up straight in the chair. A ready smile was present on my face until I looked up to meet the one pair of eyes I had been avoiding like the plague. God, why did he have to be so beautiful but so annoying at the same time? He flashed a cheeky smile as he saw me, his body leaning against the desk.

"Fancy seeing you here," he crooned and I rolled my eyes.

"Just when I was finally starting to relax," I muttered. I covered my annoyance with a fake smile as I said, "How can I help you today?"

"That's a scary question, you know," he smirked and I didn't know if I should let my mind run with where it wanted to go or let it slam into a brick wall so instead of doing either, I repeated the question.

"You're no fun," Wooyoung sulked, his lower lip jutting out in the cutest way.

"So I've been told. Do you need something or did you show up hoping I'd be here for you to annoy?"

He smiled cheekily, "The thought definitely crossed my mind. I'm always in the mindset of "how can I irritate Ollie today?"

My face broke into a smile before I could stop it. "Oh, so you think about me? Creepy. Who is the one stalking who now?" The smile fell from Wooyoung's face and I sat back in my chair with a satisfied smile.

"Please," he scoffed. "As if I'd stalk you."

I hummed, "Pretty sure you have been"

"You wish. I know I'm the highlight of your day," he fired back.

Before I could say anything else, the store phone rang and I picked it up, greeting the person on the other end of the phone sweetly. "Hey Ollie, I checked the cameras and noticed you talking with the same person for a while and wanted to let you know that it was okay for people to visit but don't let them distract you. Please ask your boyfriend to either look around or leave."

I glanced at Wooyoung before cupping my hand over the mouthpiece of the phone and whispering, "He's not my boyfriend, but okay. I'll tell him."

"Boyfriend?!" Wooyoung smirked.

I hung up the phone and slammed it down. "Leave," I deadpanned.

"Does your manager think I'm your boyfriend?" He raised a brow.

"No. Why would she think that? And didn't I tell you to leave? You're going to get me in trouble and you're trouble enough as it is."

"Because we'd be cute together, but okay, I'll leave. See you later, baby." He flashed a peace sign with his hand as he left and I sighed before going back to my sketchbook. Anything to get him out of my head.
