Chapter 18

Griffin's POV

"You are so beautiful" I said, looking in her eyes.
I moved closer. My right hand caressing her cheek, left one moving slowly to her neck. I didn't wanted to spook her in any way.

I leaned in and crushed my lips into hers. She froze even more but quickly relaxed. I kissed her softly, painfully slow. My wolf howling in my head.

I'm so sorry Lia.
I thought.

You're mine.
You will always be mine, I will come back for you.

With that thought I moved my face away, panting. Her breath faster, shorter. I leaned in again and kissed her forehead. I took a deep breath and looked at her pretty face last time

"I'm sorry" I said
" I, Griffin De la Rosa crown prince of Royal Pack, reject you Accalia as my mate and Luna"
I said.

I could see all the emotions in her eyes. Sadness. Hate. Surprise. Anger. Lots of disappointment
Before she had a chance to accept my rejection, I moved to the door. My strides quick and long.
I need to go before she reacts.

On the other side of the door was Nyko and Izzy.
I looked at the clock on the wall. Five minutes left.

I hug Nyko.
"You know what to do if I won't make it. Take care of Lia for me. Please,  don't let anything bad happen to her" I said quietly.

"I promise"
He said.

I looked at Izzy
Quickly giving her a hug, crushing her slightly
"I love you Izzy, remember that" and with that I went out of the building

I was ready for whatever will happen. I knew Alec will cheat somehow, I just didn't know how.

I was close to the entrance when I saw Bears. Cecil, Jackson with his mate and Kit.

I nodded at Cecil and Jackson.
"We are here to help, if your pack needs us afterwards.." they said. I nodded

"Thank you. I really appreciate that." I answered and looked at youngest bear . A small smile on my face

"Take care of her Kit. I know you can sense her, she will be able to sense you in about three months when she turns 18. She's strong headed but very kind and smart. I trust you will look after her properly"
I said and shook his hand

"Thank you Alpha, I promise I will take care of her. She's now mine princess " he answered with a low voice, small smile on his face.

Both Cecil and Jackson looked at us with surprise. I guess he didn't tell them yet then.

I nodded and went through the heavy, steel door.

Lia's POV

My heart shuttered into million pieces. I could feel my wolf sadness through every bone in my body.

Behind me door opened and I knew it's Izzy
She saw me and came straight closer to hug me tightly.

"Lia. What's happened ?" She asked.
I took a deep breath.
"He rejected me" was all I could say before my eyes filled with tears. I couldn't stop myself from crying so I let go.
Jackson and Brian came in and seeing the state of me they both growled.
"Oh Lia, darling." Jackson hugged me now.
Izzy looked at them.
"She said that Griff rejected her. But..
But that doesn't make any sense.." she said.
I dried my tears with the back of my hand.
"It does" I said " I know I'm not going to be good enough for him. I knew the day I found out he's my mate. " I sighed. My shoulders fell all tension escaping my body.
"No Lia, you don't understand. " Izzy said looking me in the eyes.
" yes he rejected you but it doesn't add up. You see my brother waited for his mate since forever. He was devastated when he felt you getting marked. He always wanted a mate"
She finished

"She's right" a voice behind me said. I turned around. Nyko walked in to the room.
"Lia he does want you, don't ever think differently. "He said.
"He didn't let you accept the rejection did he? " Nyko asked. I shook my head right to left. Nyko smiled gently and he continued:

"I know what he did hurts especially your wolf but think about it for a second. Your bond now is weakened. But not broken completely.
Griff rejected you to protect you. You had already strong bond. He could feel the whip on your back. You would be able to feel everything he's going through during the fight. He didn't wanted you to be in any more physical pain, then he caused you already . "
Nyko sighed, still looking at me .

"That day, when he used a whip. That night. He cried in your room waiting for you to wake up. I was there with him. " he said and I remembered smelling my mate's scent.

"He swore that night, that he will make it up to you one day, somehow, even if that means he will have to beg you to forgive him on his knees" he smiled at that thought.

"Today. Earlier on. He made Claire to promise to apologise to you for slapping you and provoking your wolf. Obviously there was no time for that because of Alec. But Griffin wanted to beg for your forgiveness in front of all the pack members. And make you his Luna "

Nyko smiled at the last sentence.

"He definitely wanted you as a mate. You are enough. " he added.

I could feel my tears starting again.

"I will murder him when he comes back" I half whisper and they smiled.

Mate wants us. My wolf voice sounded in my head
We have to go watch the fight.
Are you ok snow ? I asked her using a nickname from when I was younger.
I will be. Once our mate wins.
She answered.

"Let's go to arena." I said

"Are you sure Lia ? I mean.. are you going to be alright? Watching him fighting? " Izzy asked with worry in her voice.

"Yes" I said "I want to see this fight" I said while headed towards the door.
Rest of my friends followed.
