Chapter 20

Lia's POV

I've never thought about how I will die.
Or in that case when I will die.
I've imagined my end several times but never by saving someone.
I thought about it. Yes.
I would never attempt to write my own end but I craved it several times.

But to die to save your mate is the biggest honour in a shifters world.

Everything around me seems floating. Like lifted of the ground. I'm floating. Flying. I feel light as a feather. Warm light surrounding me and gives me a feeling of calmness,  safety.
I'm safe here and I know it.
It's like a big hug. Like being in arms of someone you love more than anything.

I slowly open my eyes.
I blink a bit as it's bright around me. I do not recognise this place
Where are we? I ask my wolf. But I cannot feel her. Snow? -nothing.
Panic seeps through my body. I cannot sense my wolf. What is happening?

I start breathing faster. Catching a heaps of air rapidly. Swallowing. Choking. Suddenly I feel suffocated. Everything around me is just..
my heart beat is now racing. Head is spinning. I want to scream but no sound is coming out.

What is happening? I'm asking again in my head, still no answer , no wolf.

"Calm down my child"

I hear a voice. Gentle. Pushing me over the edge and my feet softly land on the ground.

"You are safe"

This voice again.
I look around, there is a brighter spot not far from me. I decide to go there. I feel like I need to get there.

"Come closer my child. You will not be able to speak but I can hear what you think. You are here because I need to say something important to you, before I send you back."

Ok. What do you mean send me back? Back where? I ask

"You are not dead. Not yet. It's not your time." She answered
" you cannot feel your wolf. She's asleep. She needs to regenerate. Go back to who she was before you got marked. "

I nodded.

"You are very special. Not only because you are a healer. But also you are a white wolf. You are not who you think you are. There is a reason why you never could just follow your alpha. The reason why you had to go through all of those bad moments, days, weeks and years in your life..."
She kept talking.

I just looked at her. Even if I could talk, I don't think I would know what to say. I'm special ? How ?

" you will soon find out my dear. But know that it will not be an easy journey. The only thing I can guarantee is that you won't be alone. Never again.
Now close your eyes" the voice said.

I did as it asked me. I closed my eyes.
My whole body felt like I'm moving without my control. I felt like I'm laying down on the cloud drifting into the unknown.

"You need to go back. He needs you. They need you. Go and discover who you really are."

That was the last thing I've heard the voice saying before everything turned into black.

............

"When will she wake up. It has been two days. Hyenas are attacking another territory I really cannot just be here when they need me on the fighting line "

I could hear his voice. It washed over my body like warm water on the cold day.

"Alpha please calm down. Luna will wake up when she's ready. Her wolf needs to  heal"
 

Another voice said. I don't know this one.
The door opened and closed.
Did someone just leave ?

"Come on Griff. Our warriors will survive without you day or two more, plus Sandi is there taking care of everything. She needs you"

Hunter ? He's also here ?

"I know" my mates voice boomed through the room. I could feel his touch on my hand first then on my cheek. Sparkles traveled through every part of my body like fireworks...

"I just wish we could have more time together " he added. He leaned in and whispered
"Come back to me beautiful " and He touched my lips with his. He kissed me!

I responded and kiss him back. Surprised, he moved away from me. I opened my eyes. The room was dark.

"Lia!" Griffin said quickly. A massive smile etched to his face followed by a small frown.
"Hunter call doctor back !"

My eyes slowly finding his.

"Alpha" half whisper escaped my lips.
"Shhhhh little one. It's ok. Don't say anything. Hunter will bring you some water. And Lia, for you I'm Griffin not Alpha. " he said.

I gave him a weak smile . He kissed my hand, that was still in his hands. And he touched it to his forehead. His messy hair tickling my knuckles.

" I thought I've lost you. Lia. Your life is more important to me than my own. You didn't have to save me. I don't think I would survive anyway if you would have die" he finished his sentence looking at me.

Doctor came in, followed by Hunter. Hunter put his hand on Griffins shoulder. Doctor came to me closer.
I suddenly felt like something was off.

"Oh Luna , everyone was worried about you, I'm glad to see you awake. " the doctor said.

That's odd..

I know. We can sense doctors intentions. She doesn't want to help us. Why?
My wolf asked

Good to hear her again

I'm not sure. That is something new. I need to think this through. I answered

"I will quickly check all vitals, Alpha would you mind stepping out of the room for a second ? "Doctor asked

"No! " I said even more fast " I want you to stay with me" I said looking at Griffin.

"Luna with all due respect I will have to undress you to fully check your body."
Doctor insisted?

"That ok. I'm not ashamed of my mate seeing me." I answered

Griffin was looking at me, straight in my eyes. He was trying to figure out what's happening. He's eyes slightly darker than normal,  lust.

Our bond was stronger then before but i wasn't mark so mind link was hard. He could talk to me as an alpha. Only because i accepted him as one. But he couldn't hear me. Plus he cannot smell my scent just yet as he still didn't mark me.

Griffin was watching doctor like he was looking for something.

His eyes turning into gold slowly, Alpha wolf peaking through. Watching.
