Reece and Carly only had a few handovers left to do. The mum that approached Reece now took one look at him and gave him a disgusted look. He was covered in paint from doing an art project with his group this afternoon. Among the marks were hand prints. One little girl had got really upset because she spilt some paint and thought she would be in trouble. In order to comfort her, he'd scooped her up into a hug while her hands were still covered from trying to clean up the mess herself meaning his neck and the back of his jumper now had tiny yellow handprints. As well as the two going down his front from when he'd slid her back down to the floor so he could get her cleaned up and she wouldn't let go of him "How am I supposed to leave my child here in confidence if you can't even look after yourself?"

Reece looked at her and raised his eyebrow. "Excuse me? I could focus on keeping myself clean and  tidy and not pay attention to the kids if you prefer or I can look like this and make sure the kids are my number one priority, it's up to you. Although I'm sure you'd have something to say if I spent my day watching from afar and let the kids leave looking like this while I looked the same as I did when I arrived. Same if they came home saying they did nothing but sit at a table for 8 hours because we said they had to stay clean." Carly was stood on the other side of the room and couldn't help but stare at the conversation. She knew this mother wasn't going to win. She's never seen Reece go in on a parent before. It reminded her of Marjorie and Winter.

The mother got flustered at that point, grabbing her son by the arm and walking out while shouting back. "Just don't let it happen again." To add insult to injury for her, and really make Reece and Carly laugh, her little boy shouted back."Reece, will you come and play with us again tomorrow? You're the best!!!"

The rest of the handovers were fairly uneventful, although Reece did have to deal with a couple of flirty mums and one jealous dad, who's wife wasn't afraid of flirting with Reece even though he was stood right next to her. Carly and Reece checked all the rooms, and Reece got ready to lock up. "You ready to go, Carly?" Reece asked.

"Oh, you don't need to drop me off tonight, I have a driving lesson, and my instructor's meeting me here."

"OK. I'll wait with you until they arrive and then go and get Marjorie." He replied, the two of them sitting on the wall outside the nursery to wait.

"Thanks, Reece. You figured out what you're doing for your date tonight? You still seem distracted."

"Yea, I think I know what I'm going to do." He shifted uneasily.

"Does the nerves have anything to do with the Tiffany's box I found in the glove compartment?" She asked nervously.

Reece was silent. He just stared at Carly. "How did you....?"

"I was looking for a phone charger when you got out to get a coffee the other morning, and I found it. I haven't told anyone. For what it's worth, I think she'll say yes and you've got really good taste. I'm impressed, it's beautiful. Marjorie's going to freak."

At that point, Reece was saved by the arrival of Carly's driving instructor. She hopped off the wall and hugged Reece. "She'll say yes, she loves you. Let me know how it goes, I want pictures, videos, the works." With that, she ran over to the car and jumped in, leaving Reece sitting in shock.

He got up and walked to his car, ready to go and pick Marjorie up. 15 minutes later her pulled up in the carpark where Marjorie stood outside talking to Charlotte. Marjorie had her back to him, so didn't realise he'd arrived, Charlotte saw him coming but didn't say anything as Reece held one finger up to his mouth, telling Charlotte to keep quiet. Marjorie did ask Charlotte what was wrong, though, because although Char could keep her mouth shut, she couldn't hide the look on her face at seeing the state of a paint covered Reece. "Hey gorgeous." He said, wrapping his arms around Marjorie from behind. Marjorie turned around to look at him and backed away slightly as he appeared in her line of sight.

"What the hell happened to you? Did you have a fight with a paint can and lose?"

"Oh, one of the kids spilt paint, and they got really upset when they were caught trying to clean it up. I think they get in trouble at home if they make a mess."

"What, so you decided to show them how to make a bigger one?" Marjorie asked, laughing. "Is this what you're wearing for our date? Not sure how I feel about being seen out with a walking, talking Picasso."

"I gave her a hug, then she wouldnt let go. Hence the hand prints."

Char also was laughing by this point.

"I'm sure Marjorie would agree Reece, you need to come over here and speak to some of our parents. I'd say that designer jumper is pretty ruined now, and you're not bothered in the slightest. They can't cope with a cookie crumb on their kids' outfits."

"It's only stuff. Right, we'd better get going because I definitely need to shower and change to get rid of this yellow, unless you want to be seen out with someone that looks like they failed at Pikachu cosplay!"

"Yea, of course. Char, I'll see you Monday, have a good weekend."

"You too, Marjorie. Reece, I'll see you soon."

"Yea, bye Char."

With that Char walked back to her car while Marjorie and Reece got into his.
"So do I get to know what this date is? Just so I can work out what to wear."

"There's a meteor shower at the moment. Last night was supposed to be the best for seeing it, but it should still be ok tonight, so you don't have to dress up. Just come as you." He looked over to the passenger seat and smiled at her before placing one hand on her thigh and gently squeezing. She squeezed her thighs together, trapping his hand. All she could think was how much she wanted to jump him right there in the car. She could always drag him into hers when he dropped her back.... "No, Marjorie!" She thought to herself. "He'd planned this for last night, and you've already ruined it once. Jump him after the date.... Or during...."

"You OK, Marjorie?" Reece asked. She'd been sitting in a world of her own for a while, just staring at him.

She realised he was talking to her at last and replied, "Sorry, I was just thinking about what to wear." Not wishing to admit what she was really thinking about. He pulled up outside her house and kissed her before she got out of the car, telling her he'd be back to pick her up a little later.
