Reece woke up early. Marjorie still asleep in his arms. He knew she was going to wake up hungover when she eventually woke up. He also knew he had time before she did. He snuck out of bed and put on some running gear, leaving Marjorie a note that he'd gone running, just in case she woke up after he panicked her last time. As he got downstairs, he opened a can of 7up from the fridge, poured it into a glass, and left it on the side. He'd dealt with enough Marjorie hangovers by now to know that when she woke up, she'd want coffee, painkillers, and lemonade that was starting to lose its fizz. The last thing on the list dealt with, he headed out for a quick run, knowing her hangover routine, he had about an hour before she would start stirring. He decided to do a quick 10k, knowing he could be back at the coffee shop in about 40 minutes and home with her coffee within the hour, hopefully before she woke up. He ran his usual route and was back at the coffee shop bang on time, ordering the coffees before heading home.
When he got back, Marjorie was exactly where he'd left her. He placed the coffee, painkillers, and 7Up on the bedside table and took himself for a shower. As he walked back into the bedroom to get dressed, she was just starting to wake up. He watched as she rolled over and reached one arm over to his side of the bed, hand moving around, trying to find him before letting out a groan and flopping back down to her previous position with her eyes still closed and a pout now on her lips.
"Looking for me gorgeous?" He said, chuckling slightly.
She tried to open her eyes in the direction of the voice, but as soon as the light hit them, she snapped them shut and groaned again. "Are you up really early, or have I slept really late?" She asked.
"You've not slept in really late, its only 9:30, but I got up early to go for a run and bring you back your hangover mor ing coffee. If you can get your eyes to stay open, check your bedside table."
She opened her eyes in the direction he'd said to find exactly what she needed in this moment. "Oh my god I love you, you're the best!!" She said, taking the painkillers and starting on the drinks. "The lemonades even starting to go flat as well! You're too good to me."
He laughed, "I opened the can before I went for my run knowing how you like it." He said, looking down and blushing slightly.
"Please tell me you're coming back. I need a cuddle." She said, now looking up at him for the first time and seeing he only had a towel wrapped around his waist, his hair still wet from the shower dripping down onto his body. She bit her lip, and he spotted it.
"I'll come back, but none of that." He laughed. "Surely you had enough of that last night?"
"I could never have enough of that. Especially after last night's performance." She said, winking as she did.
He shook his head as he grabbed his coffee from the side and walked back to the bed. "And you say I don't think with my head." He sat on top of the covers, leaning back against the headboard as Marjorie sat up and leaned into his chest, wrapping her arms around him. "So how was girls' night? Do you still stand by the fact you weren't that drunk?"
"Who said I weren't that drunk? We were all hammered."
"Um, you did, love. Right before you started trying to seduce me." He said, pulling her in closer and kissing her. "I did already know though, Mia messaged and said you drunk was like herding cats, Char was asleep at the table and refusing to move, and Sorscha picked a fight with another plant on the way out. I told her that was just standard girls' night, you and Char always need carryong to the car."
"Oh no." Marjorie groaned. Burying her head in his chest in embarrassment.
"That and when you got home, you walked into a table and threw your pyjamas on the floor because they were apparently too confusing." He said laughing again. This time, his laughter earned him a playful smack in the ribs.
The pair of them led there until Marjorie had finished her drinks. She then felt almost human enough to go for a shower. Reece left her to it, knowing the next stage of his loves hangover cure routine was a fry up, so he got dressed and went downstairs to have it ready for when she came down.
She wasn't expecting him to have made breakfast as well, but she was pleasantly surprised when she came downstairs and could smell it cooking. They sat in the kitchen and ate together and Marjorie asked if Reece had any plans today.
"No, not as such, although I was thinking about looking into putting this place on the market and starting the hunt for our house. You know, if you wanted to?" He looked at Marjorie nervously, he didnt know why he felt so nervous bringing this up when they had already discussed it and were on the same page.
"I love that idea. I know this is your place to sell so you won't need me for that but I'll gladly look for our first house together with you. Still moving nearer to Autumn and Winter, right?"
"Yea, I think so. It just makes sense. We're all spending more time together, so it will make it easier to be closer. I should warn you, though, Aut is set that we have to get somewhere with a pool and a hot tub. Apparently, if she has to spend more time with me, there needs to be something in it for her as well."
Marjorie just managed to hold in her laughter at the thought of Winter making the exact same request a few months back in the office. "I'm sure that can be arranged. I mean, it will be a hard compromise to make, but I think I can cope." She said with knowing smirk as she k ew Autumn had already won that battle.
