TW - emetophobia

A month passed. Reece had finally got to the bottom of all the boxes of paperwork but he still needed to go back through them to try and piece all the information together and try and gain access to the encrypted files on the hard drive. He knew he was getting closer, though, to making sure that his father would be out of their lives for good. Once he'd gone through everything, his plan was for Autumn and Mia to go through what he'd found with him as there may be things they could put together with their knowledge of Roger and the business that he had missed.

Marjorie and Mia were no closer with Siobhan, although Marjorie did feel she was being slightly less icy towards her, so she was getting ready to broach the subject of them trying to spend time together as they were practically family.

Mia was back on good terms with Reece. They were pretty much best friends again, and Mia was coming to the house regularly to work out with Reece in his home gym in the garage when she wasn't travelling. Marjorie had come round to her as well, and Mia was trying to push Marjories buttons a hell of a lot less, much to Charlottes' joy.

Carlys driving lessons were going better after her horrendous first one when she totalled the instructors car by driving into a 1 tonne van, and she was as close as ever to Marjorie and Reece. She was basically their adopted daughter in and outside of work now as she regularly stayed over at theirs for movie nights and for Reeces cooking, which most of the nursery staff tried to invite themselves round for.

Autumn and Winter had decided to try for another baby after their loss. Therapy with and without Reece had helped massively. They'd dealt with their loss, knowing it would always be there and always a part of them, but was neither of their faults. Not that they'd told anyone else yet that they were ready to take that step. Autumn and Mia had gone some way to making up as well, although they weren't as close as Mia and Reece. Reece and Autumn's relationship was as if the last 20 years hadn't happened. Everyone loved seeing them together and seeing the obvious love they had for each other even though neither would admit it.

Reeces house was sold, and they'd put an offer in on a house a few streets away from Autumn and Winter. The whole nursery gang was very excited about the prospect of pool and hot tub parties there. Not that they'd told Reece that. Marjorie, on the other hand, was already planning them.

Quinn was growing up surrounded by her nursery family. All her aunts and uncles doted on her, and Sorscha and Clodagh felt so lucky she was so loved and protected by everyone. They really couldn't fault their village.

Marjorie and Autumn were sat in the office, both knew Siobhan was due to come in today for a meeting. Autumn was planning her escape and was planning to go on lunch with Winter as soon as she arrived. Marjorie, on the other hand, was bracing herself to try and have a proper conversation with Siobhan to try and find out what was going on with her and Roger. Marjorie was sitting at her desk feeling really nervous about how the conversation was going to go. She was so nervous she'd actually started to feel nauseous with it. Autumn was watching her closely. She knew there was something her friend wasn't telling her, she also noticed that the colour had drained from Marjories face.

Marjorie couldn't fight the nausea anymore and stood up, telling Autumn she was just going to the bathroom. She barely made it before she was sick. It was that exact moment that Charlotte walked past as well and heard. She stuck her head around the door. "Hello? Are you OK in there?" She asked, unsure of who it could be.

Marjories voice travelled out of the stall. "I'm fine, my love, think it's just something I ate. Don't worry."

"Marjorie? Are you sure you're OK? Do you want me to get Autumn? Or Reece?"

"No, my love, I'll be fine. There's no need to worry them."

"OK, if you say so. Let me know if you need anything, though."

She went back to the office, arriving just before Siobhan did. Autumn making a swift exit. Siobhan and Marjorie started by arguing over the fact that the nurseries needed more staff. Siobhan argued that there wasn't the money. They'd had this same fight multiple times over the last 6 months or so. Eventually, as a frustrated Marjorie flopped back down in her chair, she heard the incessant pinging of Siobhans phone going off and thought this was her chance.

"Someone's in demand. Roger?" She asked tentatively.

"Is that any of your business, Marjorie?"

"I was only asking, alright. I don't like it anymore than you do but we are going to be family soon as I'll be marrying Reece and you are with his dad so we will be seeing more of each other whether we like it or not. I just figured I'd try and be civil now before we're forced to anyway."

Siobhan was silent. She couldn't actually argue with the logic.

"I just thought it would be easier if we were on better terms now before we have to spend a family event together and are at each other's throats. That won't look good for Roger, and as much as I disagree with pretty much all his decisions, he is Reeces' dad, and I don't want to cause issues for Reece."

"That's actually very sensible, Marjorie. I'm impressed. OK, maybe we can start being a bit more civil to each other. I don't, however, have time today, as  you can probably tell, so I'll be off now." Siobhan said, walking out of the office.

A frustrated Marjorie put her head in her hands. She was kicking herself that that hadn't gone better. At least it was progress, she thought, before she needed to run to the bathrooms again.

‐--------------------------------☆------------------------------

Marjories sickness lasted another few days before she thought that something else might be wrong. Reece was worried about her, but she kept brushing off his concerns.

After about a week of the nausea, Marjorie decided to stop in the pharmacy on the way home. She picked up what she wanted and raced home. She ran past Reece and ran upstairs. He tried to follow, to see if she was OK, but she'd locked the door before he could get there.

"Marjorie, are you OK? Can you let me in?"

Marjorie quickly replied, hoping to get rid of him from outside the door. "Reece, I'm fine. Just still nauseous. I'll be down in a minute, don't worry."

She heard him walk away but knew he'd still be worrying. She pushed that from her mind and did what she had to do before sitting in the bathroom with her phone timer set. She would have given anything for Reece to have been with her to calm her down at this point, but she also thought it was best to do this without him. When her alarm went off, after what felt like hours, but was in reality minutes, she turned the test over to check and sighed as she saw the result.

She left the bathroom and went back down to Reece. As she came down the stairs, his head shot up from where it was rested in his hands to look at her.

"Hey gorgeous, are you OK?" He asked, his voice filled with worry.

She grabbed his hands and pulled him off the sofa to stand up as she said, "Yea, I'm fine, just a bit tired and surprised is all."

She was still holding his hands, "Surprised? What by love?" He asked, as she pushed the stick already in his hand further in, so he noticed it before pulling her hands away. Reece looked down confused and then turned over the stick in his hand to see what it was. He'd barely had a second to register it when his eyes shot up to meet Marjories....
