A few nights later, Reece was awoken by the sound of Marjorie talking on the phone. She sounded panicked and angry at the same time. Reece naturally started to worry. He got up an
d followed the sound of her voice. He saw her pacing the stairs to begin with before she sat down halfway up. She wrapped her free arm around the wood of the bannister and rested her head against it. He sat next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. She stopped hugging the woodwork and turned into his touch.

"OK, my love. Send me across all the screen grabs, and I'll sort it tomorrow. I'll speak to Siobhan as well. I'll need to see where the company stands as he's an ex staff member. Just send me the shots and block him now, OK? Char, I'm so, so sorry, my love. I'll sort it OK? I promise. Are you OK at home on your own? Do you want to come here? No, I'm at Reeces. He's sat right next to me, he doesn't mind. Or I can come to yours? OK, if you're sure. I'll see you in the morning. Bye Char." Marjorie hung up the phone and just held it to her for head for a few seconds as she let out a massive sigh.

"What's wrong? Has something happened to Char? Or Mia?" Reece asked.

"Yes and no. They're both fine, don't worry. Char got back from a concert tonight, and she had received a message from a guy who used to work at the nursery. Not for very long, I hasten to add. I got rid of him for being creepy with the staff. Think a more grown-up version of Eric at his worst. One that knew what he was doing. Apparently, he heard that Char had split up from her husband and is now dating a woman and thought that the appropriate thing to do in that situation is not only comment on it out of the blue via messenger but send unsolicited pictures to her as well to 'show her what she's missing'." Marjorie handed Reece her phone at this point, and he looked at the screenshot of the messages between this guy and Charlotte. He felt sick. He truly couldn't stand this kind of predatory behaviour from guys. He'd grown up with a narcissist and abuser and worked so hard to be nothing like that himself. He hated that, as a man, he automatically gained a reputation because of people like this guy giving all men a bad name. He hated that because he was a big guy, he would see how women would hide from him or cower from him on a dark night. This guy, the guys at the nursery that ogled and made comments about when Carly would be 'legal', men like his father they were all the type of men he couldn't stand, all the type of men he would call out in an instant if he ever spotted any behaviour that could be considered predatory or creepy. Seeing what he'd sent to Char, sweet natured, kind to everybody Char, actually made his skin crawl.

Marjorie could feel Reece physically tense alongside her as he read the messages. She knew how much he hated this kind of behaviour and how much he struggled being tarred with the same brush as this sort of guy just because he was 6'3, muscley and male and people, women especially, would just assume the worst of him because of their previous negative experiences and he was a big guy and could easily over power them if he wanted to. The same way certain mums would always come to the office to complain about Winter holding a child just because he was male. Marjorie knew that while there was a side of Reece to be afraid of, it wasn't a side for her to be afraid of. She knew without a shadow of a doubt that if anyone ever did anything to her, Reece would lose it. His full-on murderous rage side would come out, and God help the person on the receiving end. However, she also knew that he couldn't harm a hair on her head, even if his own life depended on it. She took her phone back off of him and messaged Siobhan to come to the office to meet her in the morning along with a brief description of what had happened. She took Reeces' hands and led him back to bed. She could practically feel the anger coursing through his veins. She started running her hand through his hair, tracing patterns on his chest, breathing against his neck. She was trying all the things that ordinarily would calm him, but nine of them were having any effect this time. She cuddled into him, seeking her own comfort if she couldn't provide him with any in this moment. Although, she was hopeful that as she began to calm down, Reece would as well. Marjorie eventually fell asleep, but Reece had no such luck. He led there the rest of the night. He could feel his anger bubbling inside him.
