Roger led the two of them over to a table and sat down. Mia and Reece exchanged glances before they went and joined him. Neither of them really wanted to sit and talk to him, but at the same time, they may learn something they could use, and they couldn't risk missing out on that.

They sat next to each other opposite Roger. "Now then, I thought that useless cretin had a crush on you, Mia. I hoped he'd be relaying secrets to you to try and gain your trust in the hope he was in with a chance. He's even more foolish than you." Roger spat turning to look at Reece. "The three of you won't win this. I have more money, power, and influence than all 3 of you combined. I will make you all miserable again. You will have the things you are living for ripped from you only this time, I'll make sure it's done properly. I won't rely on some stupid little girl to do the work for me."

Reece felt Mia tense up next to him and reached out his hand to take hers and give it a reassuring squeeze. Roger noticed this gesture and pounced again.
"Still trying to support her, even after everything she did to you.... All those years with Autumn hating you, all those years with someone who never loved you, all those years of her humiliating you for the wimp you are and yet here you are, still trying to support her. You make me sick. On the plus side, I bet your current leg over is cheaper than this one if I wanted to bring her over to my side. I know what I pay her, she'd probably jump at the chance of what I can offer to betray you like this one did." He knew he was hitting nerves. This was too much fun for him to stop, so he continued. "You know, I was almost sorry to hear about Autumn's loss. I did think out of the two of you that she had the best chance of producing a strong child worthy of carrying on the family name. Although I was concerned that that drip she's dating would mean any offspring would turn out weak like you. Probably for the best, we didn't get to find out."

It was Reeces turn to tense up now, and Mias turn to try and comfort him. Roger again, clocked what was going on. "Oh Reece, are you getting angry? Will you show me what you're truly capable of? Will you make me proud for once? I doubt it. Do you know, I think there's only one thing worse than if Autumn's mutt had been born."

That was all Reece needed to hear. He dived across the table, punching his dad. He'd sit and listen to whatever he had to say about him, Marjorie was pushing it but he had no right to talk about Autumn. "You don't even get to say her name." He raged, towering over his dad. "Didn't you do enough damage when we were kids? She's achieved so much, and all you can do is tear her down. And you think I'm pathetic." Reece aimed another punch, resulting in Roger having to spit out the tooth that had been knocked out.

"20 years of her hating you to the point that if she'd found you on fire, she would watch you burn, and here you are defending her still. Always trying to be the white Knight. Trying to shield your mother, your sister, Mia. Is that because you know they won't love you if you don't? News flash. They never loved you anyway. That's why your mother left. Your sister never spoke to you, and this bitch (he pointed at Mia at this point) found it so easy to manipulate, hurt and humiliate you. You know, I think the only thing worse than Autumn having that drips child would have been if this one had gone through with having yours. Luckily, she saw sense, and got rid of it. With my help obviously" He said, pointing at Mia.

"Wait, what?" Reece looked from the smug look on his dad's face to Mia, who's head was now buried in her hands while she was shaking it.

"Oh dear, have I put my foot in it. Did you never tell him about that, Mia?" Roger said this with an evil grin plastered on his face. He knew how much his son had wanted to have kids so he could try and undo the evils and losses in his childhood, this was his best opportunity to see the Reece he hoped was in there somewhere and watch him turn on Mia.

"Reecey, it's not that straightforward, OK? Please let me explain." Mia begged. Even in all the years they were together, all the years they hung out as kids, she had never seen the look in his eyes that was there now. She'd never seen him look so hurt, and she'd never seen him look at her with so much of what could only be described as hatred.  She didn't even know he had that in him.

Reece punched his dad again. This one knocking him out before storming out of the bar. He got in his car and went to drive off, leaving Mia behind. He couldn't bear to look at her after the last revelation. He started to leave but then thought of Charlotte. He couldn't be responsible for her worry when Mia didn't come back with him, so he waited for Mia to catch up and get in the car.

"Reecey, it's a long story, OK? Yes, I was pregnant. Yes, I did get rid of it, yes Roger did help. But I was so scared. We didn't have a proper relationship, I thought bringing a baby into that would have been wrong if we couldn't give it everything it deserved, if we ended uo raising it in a broken home like we were. I was scared you'd propose just because you thought you should, and that would take away any chance at true happiness for you that I hoped would come after Roger let me go. I didn't want another person to be caught in Rogers web the way we all were. I worried Roger would use it as an excuse to make life even harder for you. I was scared it would have to deal with the same stuff from Riger that he put us through. I thought I was doing the right thing."

Reece said nothing. He couldn't bring himself to look at her or talk to her. He just drove back to his. Part of him just wanted the comfort of Marjorie. However, he was also scared. Would she be understanding of him being this upset about something to do with Mia, or would her hatred for Mia get in the way. Or even worse, would she think he was still hung up on Mia?

He parked on his drive, got out of the car, and stormed into the house, slamming the front door before Mia could get there. She used the key again to let herself in, calling after him to talk to her. He'd gone straight to the kitchen and poured a drink. Marjorie and Charlotte were both startled by the way Reece had stormed through the house, slamming doors. Charlotte stopped Mia as she was trying to get to Reece in the kitchen.

"What the hell happened?" Marjorie asked, getting there first.

"Roger happened. He knew there was a leak and let the information slip to see if it reached me and where it was coming from. After that, he was just Roger. He's unconscious on the floor of the bar missing a few teeth after Reece went for him for things he was saying about Marjorie, Autumn and the baby."

Charlotte looked at Mia, she could tell there was more to the story. "Why is he so mad at you? This isn't just because Roger was talking about Autumn or that you were led into a trap. There's something else."

Mia sighed, looking between Char and Marjorie. "He may have brought up something else from our past that Reece didn't know about, and he's not taken it too well." With that, she pushed past the two women to get to Reece. They followed her into the kitchen to find Reece pacing and drinking. "Reecey, you can't be that mad at me. You drove me back."

"I only brought you back because I knew Char would worry if I didn't. I really don't care what would have happened to you, but I'm not doing that to Char."

Mia looked into his eyes. She saw he might actually have meant that. Fuck!! This time, she really had hurt him. Maybe even she had to admit she'd gone too far.

"Reecey, I told you why I did what I did. It wouldn't have been good for us. It would've just tied us together even more when we didn't want to be. Surely, that wouldn't have been good for any of us."

"You know what it's not even what you did... It's the fact you went to him. You could have spoken to me, you could have told me everything you said in the car and we could have made the decision. Yea, it may have ended up being the same decision, but we'd have made it together, and I could have been there for you instead you went to him and gave him more power."

"I knew if I told you how much it would mean to you, how much you would want it... I knew you'd want the redemption, the chance to really prove you're not like him. I couldn't break your heart like that, " Mia said, leaning up against one of the kitchen walls.

Reece walked up to where Mia was standing, chuckling to himself. He threw a punch at the wall next to Mias head, the tiles from the splashback shattering around his fist, leaving his hand covered in cuts and probably filled with ceramic shards. Charlotte and Marjorie screamed, but Mia didn't even flinch. She knew her Reecey too well. She knew that even this upset, he could never hurt her, even this angry, he would not let himself be anything like Roger. He'd hurt himself before he hurt her. "It's funny you think you ever gave a crap about my heart. You've never cared about anyone's other than your own. Charlotte? I'm sorry for my behaviour, but please get your girlfriend out of my house and leave the key she never should have had in the first place."
