Pin was over at Lainey's house as she was trying to choose a dress for the barn dance. "Come on, this is the fifth dress you've shown me! You look amazing in all of them!" He called out, laying against her bed that had several dresses on it all of different colours and styles.
He could hear her groan before coming out in a dark green dress, "yeah, but this is the first time you're going. I want to look great for you!" She complained then gasped. "Wait, why am I making you help me! It's for you. I'm so stupid!"
He rolled his eyes before he got up, walking over to her and grabbing her hands, "You're not stupid. I'm still your best friend." She hit him.
"What if I told you Jade was my best friend?" She hummed, crossing her arms.
Pin mirrored her, thinking about it, "Then I would say that Becky being mine shouldn't break your heart then."
She scoffed, "as if we could ever break up Jecky." Pin cringed thinking about what would happen if anyone, ever, tried to break up those girls. It would be like trying to start a war.

Speaking of wars, it seemed that some people couldn't take a hint. While trying to pick out dresses for the dance, Zoe said that she asked Pin to go, slightly implying that she wanted to be his date.
The two girls didn't know what to say, but the girl quickly changed the subject, getting the two distracted from telling their other friend.
Mia, however, wouldn't be forgetting what she had heard anytime soon. She found Pin, sweeping up near the haystack and walked towards him. "So, I hear you and Zoe are going to the dance together. You do remember you're dating my cousin right?"
Pin scoffed, "how would I forget?" He asked, not stopping his work. "We're not going together, she just asked if I would go. I said yes and that we could hang out as a group. Lainey's excited by the way if you actually wanted to know."
The brunette shrugged, "well it wasn't a real invite anyway–" Pin stopped working and looked at her. "Oh, I thought you knew."
"Knew what?"
"Zoe only asked you because she felt sorry for you. She doesn't really want to be friends, she thinks you're more of... of a charity case." Pin gave her an annoyed look, laying his broom against the wall.
"Can't help but make trouble, can you?"
"I'm not making trouble, Pin," Mia promised. "We might be family one day. I just don't want them to make a fool of you and my sis–cousin." She walked forward as he turned around to walk away from her. "It was all a bit of a joke, apparently. Zo told Becky and Jade how you needed to lighten up, and... they came up with this silly idea of asking you to come to the dance with them."
"Is that true?" He asked, they were his friends. He knew that. Why would they ever do something like that to him?
She nodded, acting serious, "Susie heard them. I was so upset when she told me. You deserve better."
Pin nodded towards her. He stormed off and gave Zoe a piece of his mind. It wasn't fair that she would turn his friends against him.
When he left her, he went to the only person he knew he could trust, his girlfriend. She was just getting back from a ride on Angel when she saw her boyfriend walking out into the fields. She jumped off from Angel and grabbed his reins, "Hey, everything okay?"
He shook his head, "Zoe only asked me to go because she felt sorry for me. Susie overheard them talking about a plan."
Lainey furrowed her eyebrows, "Who's 'them'?"
