Part 26

*Valentina's POV*

The jet lands in Los Angeles after 5 hours, well this was a shit flight.

People think that just because I can afford a private jet flying is always so much fun, well it isn't, I hate it, on top of that all I can think about is Danielle.

Thank God Ben slept through the night, Danielle
did too, in the morning I couldn't keep counting how many times Ben apologized and thanked me, after a while he and Danielle both left, I immediately went to bed, considering I didn't get any sleep in the last 27 hours.

I emerge from the plane getting into the SUV that was waiting for me, indicating to my driver he can start driving.

I lean back against the headrest, feeling my skin touch the leather, as I unlock my phone, just in that moment my mother calls, this will be fun.

"I hope you are already in Los Angeles" she greets me, yeah nothing changed.

"I just landed my dear mother, hi to you too by the way" I say rolling my eyes.

"What did we say about that attitude?" she asks outraged.

"Why did you call me?" I ask already tired from this shit.

"You know the schedule right? Tomorow early in the morning you have to meet us downtown, on Tuesday you are needed for the photoshoot, on Wednesday-" I cut her off "I got everything, I'll be there" I say.

"You better mean that because you won't dissapoint us more than you already have" you would think having 2 degrees and a company wouldn't dissapoint your parents, but then again your parents aren't Lilith and Maxwell Powers.

"How have I dissapointed you mother? Do tell me" I say, already smiling because I know this will be good.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about, Helena, do you have any idea what you brought to us with her cheating on you? with that divorce?" she asks

"Well if I recall correctly  you and dad were the ones who put me up to the marriage in the first place" I say back.

"Yes because you will never find anyone, we needed to take the opportunity, and of course you would mess it up because you don't show any emotion" she huffs.

"And who's fault is that?" I talk back "You can lecture me all you want mother, but at the end of the day I'm like this because of you and dad, I know, I know it's such a schocker that the kid who you never gave any love became heartless" I say, no emotion in my voice.

"Don't you dare put this on us-" okay this is enough "Oh I'm sorry I can't hear you, oh no I'm breaking up-" I disconnect the call, it was getting boring.

We arrive at the penthouse I rented for the week.

We finished with the opening of Powers law firm, around 7 pm, I'm already exhausted, spending time with my family usually resolves in that.

"Hey" Hazel comes to greet me, we barely spoke 2 words since we are here which has been for about 12 hours now, I don't understand why this took so long, I mean okay we had to wait for the media and the channels to arrive but still.

"Hi, what's up?" I ask taking a sip from my water bottle "You know same old, same old, what about you? Mom and Dad making any comment lately?" she asks as we are headed towards my SUV, I open the car door.

"They are mom and dad, that enough answer for you?" I ask as I get into the car, Hazel gets in next to me "That's not okay Val, you know that-" I cut her off.

"Stop Hazel, yeah sure it's not okay now but it wasn't okay 10 years ago, or 20 for that matter, don't act like they just started treating and talking to me like shit" I scold her, I know Hazel just looks out for me but my parents are lost causes, I'm not begging for their affection anymore, 20 years ago? Sure I would have begged on my knees, but I was 2, I'm done with trying to want anything for them, and I'm sure as hell done with taking every insult to my heart.
