THE COURTIER
                                                ♡ Ugene

I am a man of rules. I like to keep my schedule clean and neat; ready for anything to come my way. I am always right on time in everything I do, I make sure I do it perfectly the first time because mistakes can get you killed.

I am a man of rules.

For years I have been stuck in this cycle of my schedule insisting the same way everyday. That is how I inquired my job as the King's courtier. Do not speak unless spoken to, do not enter a world you do not belong in.

I stayed in the palace along with the King, never finding time outside of my job. It was my duty to give my life to the King, and I swore by it. Neat clothes hung in my closet, no marks of dirt, nor a crease in my suits were found. Otherwise, they would be thrown out for garbage.

The first thing in the morning and I have woken was to make my bed. I make sure it is perfect for the night to come. Not a speck of dirt is seen clearly in my room, I am a man of cleanliness, nothing less.

Before 8 strikes the clock on my wall, I am heading down to the kitchen to make sure my men have done their rounds to make sure the palace has no threats from the outside. The other guards do not speak to me, I presume they are not afraid, no, they just know I will not speak.

The only time I open my trap is when King Jaxson has a question or has presented a conversation forth. Arabella has joined the royal palace now, and I will say, it has brightened a ton, and her wishes will be fulfilled and granted on my end if necessary. I will make sure she will never shed a tear on my cause.

Knowing the wrath that I could face if Jaxson were to know she was ever in harm's way.

The Queen had a courtier as well, lurking through the halls of the palace, taking over my senses, tilting me off my schedule, and my eyes always found their way to her beauty that strikes me.

Josephine Castings. A lady whom I rarely speak to, but find her always around. Of course, she was. She is the Queen's courtier. Sending smiles to everyone around, never speaking much either.

She has found a way onto my schedule of things to do during the day. I, Ugene Chesire, have grown obsessed with a lady such as her. Though we do not speak, she does not have to say a word to me and I am still at her mercy, watching every move she makes.

Her ways tormented me. In the mornings, she will fetch some tea, enjoy her time alone, making haste towards the basement of the palace and that is when my steps lurk behind hers, making sure that every step of the way she did not realize I was following her.

Could I be classified as a known stalker around the palace? Of course. Would I let anyone catch me? No.

Josephine Castings spends her days with the other maids of the palace, letting them gossip from the village and elsewhere they might have heard such things. Josephine stands quietly, doing her morning duties, minding her own business.

Beth Castings, Josephine's eldest sister whom works for the royal family as well. They look nothing alike, and you would miss the note that they were family if she did not tell you, but I knew.

I knew everything.

Josephine looked nothing like her sister, no, Josephine had the beauty that could blind a sailor. It was beyond me that she has never married a suitor, or even had her sights on someone.

I remember from the moment I saw Josephine standing in the church at the Queen and King's wedding that I was in for it. She had stricken my interest from the moment I laid my eyes on her soul. Now, I spend all of my days wondering who she was, what her hobbies were, where she was from.
