That morning was Connor's weekly weighing day, Doctor Mercury awoke him at a hellishly early hour forcing the groggy boy down to his office firmly.
Just as he had done the previous time Connor attempted to peak at his weight multiple times but once again the doctor was clever sneakily hiding the number from him both on the scales and when writing it down.
"You're progressing well Connor, you should be proud of yourself" Doctor Mercury told him jotting down notes and comparing the results to the other times.
"W-what do you mean?" Connor asking gulping nervously. His idea of progress and Simons idea of progress weren't exactly similar.
To Connor, progress would be getting closer to his 30kg goal. So his weight going down and getting closer to that all important number was what he wanted progress to look like.
Where as Doctor Mercury's idea of progress, and what would actually be considered good progress was his weight going up and edging closer to becoming stable again, so Connor assumed this was what the doctor meant but still waited patiently for an answer just on the chance Simon had seen sense.
"I mean you're becoming a healthier, a more correct weight, you're not stable yet but you should be soon once we can get you onto full portions" Doctor Mercury explained still scribbling down notes at a steady pace.
"Right" Connor whispered back uncertainly.
"I've also got a nice surprise for you, your brother called me yesterday and after a lengthy conversation I agreed to let him come and visit you, it will be your only visit for a while so make sure to enjoy it. He'll be here after breakfast and you'll have him until before lunch" Doctor Mercury explained a smile on his patient face.
Connor perked up at this, getting to see Harry would he really nice. He secretly hoped his big brother would bring the kitten but knew that was wishful thinking.
"Okay, let's go down to breakfast" Doctor Mercury said putting away his notes and standing up. Connor followed the grey haired doctor as he led them down the corridor. They were last to make it in but this time it seemed so much more friendly.
Riccardo had obviously relaxed and cheered up after their chat the other day, he gave Connor a shy smile as he walked in. The other two seemed to be back to normal as well, Liam hadn't changed and didn't even show a sign of what had happened between himself and Connor where as Alex was being his normal witty self.
"And what time do you call this?" Alex asked smirking as he tapped his watch repeatedly.
"Breakfast time" Doctor Mercury replied patiently as he placed the bowls of cereal and plates of warm toast at each of the boys places. Connor managed to start as soon as he received his cereal. Breakfast had been getting increasingly easier and now there was no tension it made it much more bearable again. His upcoming visit from Harry was also motivating him.
"This cereal tastes like cardboard" Alex complained. "And not even the nice type of cardboard, this is like cardboard that a Hermes delivery driver has roughed up" He added making Riccardo burst out laughing and Liam nudge him silently.
"You picked it" Liam told him with a shrug.
"Can't argue with that" Alex replied nodding his head.
"Did you sleep okay Connor?" Riccardo softly whispered from beside him making Connor's head turn. Despite the extreme heat of the dining room Riccardo was dressed in a light pink hoodie and jeans. He must be boiling alive all for the sake of covering his scars.
Connor wished he could reassure Riccardo there was no shame in his cuts, no shame at all. It was unhealthy and he needed to stop, that was obvious even to the brunette, but it was still nothing to be ashamed of.
