Connor sat in the communal area cuddling close to Riccardo in anticipation, Liam was pacing back and forth in front of the lounge window looking out of it every 5 seconds. Today was supposed to be the day Alex came back to Golden Eagle. He'd been away for just over half a year in hospital as his wounds healed and he began to recover.
The facial reconstruction he'd had to have caused some issues by getting infected and needing to be redone using skin grafts, that in turn made it almost impossible for Alex to eat without a feeding tube causing numerous complications which only extended his stay.
He also hadn't managed to walk since the accident, he'd managed to swim in practical therapy sessions but he was yet able to walk again, the doctors had told them he'd have to relearn steps like he was a toddler, which Alex did not seemed amused about whatsoever.
He was projected to make a full recovery though. He'd never quite be the same again but once he could walk it'd be like normal for him, the rest of his wounds had healed without problem now just fading scars on his body.
"What's taking him so long" Liam questioned running a hand through his messy braided hair stressfully. It'd been a hard hit for the other boys as well, surprisingly Connor had taken it the best out of all them, after the initial guilt wore off he was able to continue his eating disorder treatment and hadn't missed a meal in weeks, on top of that he now had snacks at regular intervals as instructed by Doctor Mercury, he was also now an expert on portioning. He portioned his own food every day sometimes even doing the others boys meals as well.
Riccardo hadn't taken Alex's accident too great, he'd obviously lost his way of coping by handing in all his blades so had continuous breakdowns in his room where he'd slam his head against the wall until restrained, he'd also attempted to run away twice being caught by Simon and the cops both times, Doctor Mercury had been very patient with him despite the Italian causing him a broken finger when the doctor had gotten between Riccardo's skull and the brick wall in an attempt to stop him getting hurt.
These episodes had been scary for Connor but Riccardo was always positive about it, he never stopped loving the boys despite how challenging what was going on for him was mentally.
Liam on the other hand had taken it the worst, he'd isolated himself for weeks on end, refusing to even speak to anyone including his own boyfriends. At one point he'd convinced himself to break up with Riccardo and Connor before apologising to them and begging them to take him back, which they did without hesitation. To them they'd never actually broken up. Liam still in the present wasn't his normal self and likely wouldn't be until Alex was back and safe.
Connor was brought off his thoughts by the noise of the gate grating open. He jumped to his feet startling the Italian who had been dozing sweetly next to him. Flashing Riccardo an apologetic but excited look Connor rushed to the window. Liam was already staring intently out of it. An ambulance slowly rolled into the driveway followed by Doctor Mercury's car.
The ambulance door opened and a ramp was placed down. Alex then emerged from inside being wheeled out by an ambulance worker and laughing his head off about something. They could literally hear his laughter from inside the house.
It was a task to wheel him up to the front door due to the stony driveway however they eventually managed it. As soon as the front door opened Liam practically bounded over crouching down in front of Alex's wheelchair as it came to a halt in the lounge doorway.
"I'm back bitches!" Alex announced cheesily as he took in the room, the boys hadn't seen him for at least 4 months at this point due to their sections not allowing frequent trips out if any at all.
Liam hugged Alex close as Connor and Riccardo rushed over joining in the group hug. It was the best hug Connor had ever had. The four of them back together again was the best thing he could ask for.
