Vidhi burst into the room, gasping for air. She saw Siya's lifeless body and Aditi, who was sobbing uncontrollably. Vidhi knelt down and wrapped her arms around her, offering comfort.
*Vidhi's POV*
How could everything change in just one day? Yesterday, Karan called to tell me that Aditi's mother was in the hospital. I tried reaching out, but Aditi's phone was off.
Lost in my thoughts, I suddenly noticed the vermilion in Aditi's hairline and, surprisingly, she was dressed in a red suit today.
I sensed Aditi's senses slipping away; her sobbing gradually ceased, and her weight became fully supported by my body as she fainted.
The doctors assisted me in moving her to a ward. Her body was aflame with fever, and now, I am consumed by anger.
Author's POV
Abhay sat in his car in the parking lot, watching the CCTV footage of his wife and Vidhi.
"Just five more days, Aditi. Let them savor their triumph, and then they will witness nothing but defeat for the rest of their lives."
...
Two days went by, and Aditi performed the final rites for her mother who had departed from this world.
Yug felt guilty but not for his actions but he had lost Aditi. He thought he would silently kill Siya and be her support system.
Vidhi learned the truth and conveyed it to Vivaan.
Vivaan, consumed by rage, departed from the house as he cherished his Badi Maa (Yug's mother) and wished to spare her any pain.
Aditi was seated by the Ganga ghat, her gaze fixed on the stars. The breeze toyed with her hair while she rested her head on her knees.
A short distance away, Abhay and Vidhi observed her. Vivaan approached Vidhi and draped his jacket over her shoulders.
Vidhi offered Vivaan a smile and glanced at Abhay, who was intently watching Aditi.
Breaking the silence, Vivaan remarked, "They say there's something magical in the air of Varanasi. What do you think about that, Vidhi?"
Vidhi glanced at him and replied, "Yes, it's the cold waves." Vivaan slapped his forehead and exclaimed, "It's love, Vidhi. Try to be a bit more romantic." Then, turning to Abhay, Vivaan asked, "Bhai, what now?"
Abhay gazed at them and inquired, "Your engagement is the day after tomorrow, correct?" Upon his question, they both nodded in affirmation.
Taking a deep breath, Abhay said, "Alright, meet me tomorrow before you leave. Now, you both should go; I will get Aditi."
They both departed, and Abhay descended the stairs. Returning, he gazed at Aditi's reflection in the river. As she caught sight of Abhay's reflection, she rose to leave, but he blocked her path.
When she attempted to move away, he grasped her hand and pressed her against the wall.
"How long will you ignore me, Aditi? You must accept that we are married now. There is no escape, Princess," he uttered in a husky tone. His warm breath caressed Aditi's lips, sending a shiver through her.
Aditi gazed into his eyes and declared, "I hate you, Kunwar sa. I will never belong to you. You married me solely to safeguard your interests that night, so my mother's condition wouldn't jeopardize your bloody contract."
As soon as the words left her lips, the skies responded with a growl of thunder, deep and furious, as if echoing the turmoil within her.
Startled, Aditi instinctively stepped closer—and in that split-second, as Abhay reached out to steady her, her lips brushed faintly against his cheek.
A breath. A spark.
But she didn't notice.
Oblivious to the touch, her focus was sharp, fueled by the storm inside her. She pushed him away, the gesture harsh and sudden.
"Stay away from me, Kunwar Sa," she declared coldly, voice laced with defiance, and turned to leave, her movements swift as she began ascending the ghat's stone steps.
But fate wasn't done yet.
Halfway up, something made her pause—maybe it was the silence behind her, or maybe the way the wind seemed to hold its breath.
She turned.
And there he was—Abhay—standing still, rain beginning to soak into the fabric of his clothes, eyes fixed solely on her. Unmoving. Unshaken.
Their eyes met.
And in that instant, the clouds gave way completely, unleashing a torrential downpour that blurred the world around them.
The sound of the rain drowned everything else, but in that shared gaze—unspoken, unresolved—there was a weight heavier than any storm.
Neither of them looked away.
And still... Aditi didn't know what she'd just left behind
Could this be the beginning of a new love story, or perhaps a tale of revenge?
