January 2018

Chan had become a full on dad.

Minho was the first teenager he experienced raising, then Changbin, now Hyunjin, and they were all so different from each other.

He was much less intimidated by anything now. Nothing fazed him anymore. He was in full dad mode all the time.

Now days it was only about once a week that one of the kids would get in trouble.

Again, he knew that Minho was keeping everyone in line most of the time, but he also knew that Minho used "I'm going to tell Chan hyung" as a threat to make everyone listen to him.

When Chan came home from work, he was often met by Minho.

"Your kid did _____" "that thing is being a brat"

"What took you so long? _____ and _____ keep fighting"

Chan always took over right away. He didn't get a break. He woke up, cleaned, cooked, took the kids to school, hugged them goodbye. He went to work. He came home, and spent his emotional energy on the kids. He cleaned some more. Talked and played with the kids, and if it was an off day then depending on the severity of crimes committed while he was gone, he either comforted, scolded or spanked one or occasionally almost all of the kids. He got them ready for bed, told them stories, hugged them all goodnight, and went to the gym with Changbin. He came home, he finished what work he had, and he passed out, and then did everything over again the next day.

Changbin was 18 and part way through his last year of high school. He took care of all the younger kids emotionally. He always checked in on them. He made it a point every day to hug each one of his younger brothers so that none of them felt left out. If they were having an emotional day, or just wanted to vent, Changbin was always there. Always reliable. He was never alone. There was always a younger kid stuck to him, and if there wasn't, he would go searching for one. Whoever he thought needed more attention lately, that's who he'd focus on.

Lately it was Seungmin. Seungmin really loved Changbin. He was determined and bossy, but never actually scolded anyone for real. He was the kind of big brother you'd want. The kind that tried hard to be a role model.

Seungmin was a funny kid. He had a savage sense of humour and was totally out of pocket. He liked to irritate Changbin for fun, by getting in his way as often as possible.

Now Jisung didn't like to admit it, but he felt left out. He felt like Changbin was more loving to Seungmin, Felix and Jeongin. Now, normally that wouldn't be a problem. Except that he looked up to Changbin so much. To him, Changbin was the person he wanted to grow up to be, but Changbin didn't give Jisung as many hugs or as much encouragement. He just expected Jisung to be good at things. He expected him to do well. He expected Jisung didn't need hugs.

Since school ended Seungmin had been stuck to Changbin. They sat beside each other on the couch now. Changbin was on his phone, and Seungmin was doing nothing. He was just leaning on Changbin, watching whatever he was doing.

Jisung wanted attention, but he never did know how to ask for it. He just ignored his feelings until he got mad. He became irritable and no one could possibly understand why.

"Jisung, wanna play my game with me?" Felix asked as he ran over to the living room, finally freed from his homework.
