March 2022.
Chan knocked on the door.
It was around 4:00 pm.
Amelia answered. She smiled softly, the chemistry between them undeniable at this point.
"Hi." She said.
"Hi." Chan smiled back, taking a moment to notice the way her thick, curly hair was perfectly cascading behind her shoulders.
"Jeongin and Byron are just playing Minecraft." Amelia said.
"Yeah. He's been on a Minecraft buzz lately." Chan shook his head.
Amelia laughed. "I'll go get him." She said.
Chan waited in the porch until both boys came out.
"Hi dad."
"Hi Mr. Christopher."
"Hi guys." Chan said. "Hyunjin bought gifts for you and your brothers, so you should go back home." He said to Jeongin.
"Oh. Okay." Jeongin said, excited to see what Hyunjin brought him.
As Jeongin and Chan were leaving, Byron suddenly remembered something.
"Oh! Mama, maybe he can fix the back door!" Byron said, pointing at Chan.
Chan turned back around. "Oh? Is there something wrong with it?"
"Oh. Well, I thought it was fine, but it won't really latch." Amelia admitted. "But it's okay. I'll get a new lock for it. I think that's the problem."
"Can you show me?" Chan asked.
"Oh. Yeah. Okay." Amelia said, leading Chan to the kitchen.
He took one look at the door, and realized the lock had been busted there too.
He honestly felt a little frustrated, although he didn't know exactly why.
"I'll go get a new lock." He said, immediately going into problem solving mode.
Amelia tried to tell him that it was okay, and he didn't have to, but that didn't work.
Chan quickly went off to the store to get locks.
When he came back, he got straight to work.
Then Byron asked him if he could go over to hang out at his house.
Chan of course, said yes, so he went to ask his mom too, who also agreed.
