December 2023
Chan looked down the long corridor anxiously.
Where was Hyunjin? They should be here by now.
He called JoJo, figuring that Hyunjin was driving.
"Hiiii, we're almost there! We're just trying to figure out this parking lot." JoJo explained as soon as she answered.
"Okay." Chan said. Then he told them their room number and how to get there.
It was definitely strange trying to co-ordinate getting your grown child to the hospital for the birth of your baby.
But Chan wanted Hyunjin to learn from his example. Despite the fact that this was a new chapter to enjoy in Chan's life, he still put teaching his kids first.
Chan made sure to have plenty of talks with Hyunjin about what it means to be a dad, and what you have to do to be a good leader that your kids can follow.
Despite Chan's own inexperience, being a new husband himself, he was making sure to be open and share what he could about that with Hyunjin too.
After a few minutes there was a knock at the door.
Chan turned his attention from Amelia briefly, to go open it.
There was JoJo, with Hyunjin towering behind her.
"Hey Dad." Hyunjin smiled.
"Hiiii" JoJo cheered excitedly.
"Hey guys. Come in." Chan said.
They stepped in and JoJo rushed to Amelia and gave her a hug.
Hyunjin wrapped Chan in a hug too.
"Are you getting nervous?" Hyunjin asked.
Chan nodded. "I'm shaking." He said, holding up his shaky hands.
"Don't worry. It'll be fine." Hyunjin said confidently.
Chan smiled and nodded. "I hope so."
Then Hyunjin went to give Amelia a hug too.
Amelia's contractions were getting closer and closer together now.
As the night went on, Hyunjin and JoJo felt more and more overwhelmed.
Amelia seemed to be in so much pain, even though she got an epidural. It was terrible to watch.
JoJo and Chan stood on each side of the bed, holding Amelia's hands as she began pushing.
There was so many people in the room.
