August 2023
Chan was busy putting together the crib for the nursery when he got a call from Hyunjin.
"Hello?" Chan answered.
"Hi." Hyunjin said, sounding serious.
Hyunjin practically never sounded serious.
"What's wrong?" Chan asked, knowing immediately that something wasn't right.
"Umm. Well, nothing. I just. I wanted to see what you thought of something." Hyunjin said nervously.
"What something? I'm a bit busy right now. Can you call later?"
"I just. I need to know now." Hyunjin said.
"Know what?"
"What to do....."
Chan sighed, and put down the screwdriver. "Hyunjin.. I couldn't possibly tell you, because I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Ummm. Well, I need to know what you'd think of me getting married." Hyunjin spat out.
Chan laughed... "In five or ten years? Sure. I'd support that."
"How about now?"
"Is this a joke?" Chan asked.
"Dad. There's a little development. Umm... I made a small mistake." Hyunjin whispered sadly.
Chan muted himself quickly before shouting. "You stupid, STUPID KID!"
Amelia quickly waddled into the room, 5 months pregnant. "What stupid kid? Our kid? The baby? Sweetie, don't get mad, just read the instructions." She said, handing him the crib assembly booklet.
Chan used his well developed parenting skills to instantly calm himself down.
"Dad?" Hyunjin called.
Chan unmuted himself. "How far along is the "small mistake"?" He asked.
"Ummm. I guess about a month and a half." Hyunjin replied.
"I told you over and over again to always take precautions! What happened?!" Chan asked sternly.
Amelia sat down on the rocking chair, listening to Chan's half of the conversation and watching him pace back and forth anxiously.
