Today was the big day.

Chan was gonna do it.

He was going to ask Amelia to marry him.

Of course, they both already knew that this was the plan. But this was a special day.

He took Amelia for coffee at her favourite cafe. Then he took her to a beautiful park.

They walked around together for a while, and once they were at the perfect spot, Chan stopped, and knelt down on one knee.

He pulled the ring box from his pocket carefully.

Amelia instantly melted.

Her lips curled into a smile as Chan began talking.

"Amelia, as soon as I met you, I felt this connection. A sort of understanding that I've never felt with anyone before.

And the more you came into my life, the more at peace I felt.

You made all the things that were turbulent, suddenly seem calm.

I used to think "what am I doing with my life?" But now I know. I know what I want. I don't feel lost anymore.

I never thought that someone like you, would end up with someone like me, because I have a lot of baggage. I had basically come to the conclusion that I would never be in a relationship, but then you came along, and you changed everything."

By this point, Amelia started crying.

"I didn't know it was possible to love someone the way I love you, Amelia. I didn't ever imagine that a person like you could really exist in this world, and that I would be so blessed as to find you.

I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I want to make you happy. I want to make you feel so safe and so worthy of respect.

I want us to raise our family together, and solve problems together. I want our kids to be happy and feel loved by us together.

I don't want to live in this world without you. I can't.

So, Amelia... Will you marry me?"

Amelia leaned forward and wrapped her arms around Chan tearfully.

"Yes."
