The three of them drove towards the ravine Ava Max had mentioned. The navigational app said it would take a few days to get there. It was about the same distance as K-391 and Alan Walker had traveled before, only it didn't take months because they had a clear goal.
Later, they pulled over for the night. Staying in a hotel was too risky, Alan Walker said, so they would just sleep in the car, and start driving again when the sun came up.K-391 and Ava Max were talking. K-391 was sitting in the front seat, his feet on the dashboard. Alan Walker was a dozen meters away, in the field, staring off into space.
"How'd you know to control the drones like that?" K-391 asked.
"I don't know, it surprised me too. That plan just seemed so... logical." Ava Max replied.
"Huh," K-391 responded. He looked over at Alan Walker. But something that might seem weird was happening to him. He was emitting particles that blew away with the wind. It looked like he was crumbling in the cold night air, but he was still entirely there. Alan Walker was, quite literally, Faded. This happened quite a bit. K-391 did not know why or how this happened. He suspected it had something to do with Alan's current emotional state.
"What is he doing?" Ava Max asked.
"I'm not really sure. It just happens sometimes," K-391 responded.
"But, how is he doing that?" She continued.
"I don't know that either. All I know is he's been a lot of places and been through a lot of stuff. It could be caused by anything really."
"He's had a hard life, huh?"
"Yeah. He doesn't talk about it much."Then Alan Walker exploded. At least, that's what it felt like. Out of nowhere, he exploded into music. (don't ask how, weird stuff happens a lot that doesn't get explained until days, weeks, or years centuries later.) A song of sorrow, loss, yet hopefulness and passion. When it was over, Alan Walker turned back around.
"Sorry." He said sheepishly.
"It's ok," K-391 replied. "Get it out of your system."
Ava Max was frozen in shock. K-391 looked over at her.
"Aw dang, you broke her!" K-391 jokes.
"What the heck just happened?" Ava Max said quietly.
"Don't worry," K-391 laughs. "You're not the first person to get thrown across the room by Alan's outbursts."
Alan Walker shrugs. "Great music moves people."
All three of them burst into laughter.
